A couple weeks ago, I spent a morning up on Mt. Davidson with Indre Viskontas and Kishore Hari recording a podcast about drones for Inquiring Minds. Today, Mother Jones posted an article about drones and science, and included a short video of our flights from up on the small mountain in San Francisco. One of the first things I did when the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ was released was go to Golden Gate Park and photograph the California Academy of Sciences from the air. The roof of the building is incredible and really screams to be photographed from low altitude.

I met up with a friend at a park in the Marina and shot this panorama of San Francisco using a DJI Phantom 3 Professional quadcopter. The wind was blowing really hard, but it was no problem: sent the thing up, took 6 pictures in Adobe DNG raw with approximately 50% overlap in each, and ...
