Sloths in Panama, presented immersive VR / 3D-180
Articles
In February, I accompanied sloth scientist Bryson Voirin to Panama in search of sloths. Armed with a stereoscopic 180 camera and an ambisonic audio recorder, my goal was to capture footage of sloths in the most immersive way possible. The result is a short video that includes footage nearly 100′ up a fig tree and makes you feel like you’re exploring the rainforest with Dr. Voirin, in search of sloths.

There are a few ways you can watch this video in its full stereoscopic (3D) glory in your VR headset:
- Use the browser in your VR headset to browse to echeng.com/sloths.
- Click over to the video on Facebook, save the post/video, and then launch the Facebook 360 VR Experience in your Oculus Go or Gear VR headset.
- Download the full-resolution file to sideload into your Oculus Go or Gear VR. You can sideload the video and watch in Gallery or in Oculus Video.
