Jeff Foster from Pro Video Coalition brought over a loanerĀ DSLRPros Nighthawk Thermal Phantom 2 Aerial Kit, which is a DJI Phantom 2 that has been accessorized with a gimbal-stabilized thermal infrared camera. The high-end configuration was super slick and had dual FPV monitors, each configured with a digital video recorder.

The basic aerial kit is $3,369, but requires one of two thermal cameras, the cheaper of which is $4,119. A full kit with dual FPV monitors can be configured for just under $8K. I was impressed with the integration; if you need to get in the air with a thermal camera, this is a great way to go. It also fits in a backpack, and can be hiked around (although the FPV monitor setup needs to be broken down for transport).
