Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hi people, thanks for all the info in this forum which i've enjoyed reading. Going to try famotidine which i can only buy here as pepcidtwo (pepcid complete), but this involves consuming high doses of two other antacids which are in the tablets. I'm still not too clear if ranitidine (zantac) works just as well for treating asian flush, or whether it produces more side effects. There are many products here containing ranitidine without other antacids, plus it's about a third of the price. It seems most people only use it for asian flush if they haven't got any famotidine. Has anyone used ranitidine regularly for asian flush, or is famotidine really more effective? Thanks

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Ironmike... take it easy bro! For me, yes I drink more but now its more like a treat that I have to plan in advance and I really don't want to be taking the pills every day. At the moment, I take them maybe once a week. Don't go crazy Ironmike - this new found 'remedy' is not to be abused!! We don't want you hurting yourself or anyone else because you're constantly drunk.

I'm from Australia where famotidine products are prescription medicines only. I went to a doctor to try and get a prescription for famotidine, but was shut down because I wanted famotidine for a purpose other than what it was intended for. For some reason I couldn't lie to the doctor (weird attack of conscience).

Anyway, I tried Zantac Extra Strength which is an over the counter drug here in Oz. 2 tablets, wait about 45 mins, and the effects of the Asian Blush are substantially reduced. I only get a little pink, not beet red, and more importantly the terrible headaches, racing heart, and cold feeling sensations after drinking are completely gone. I suffered terribly from these other problems (other than the redness) making drinking a real problem. For me, the redness was secondary to these other problems.

So, if you are having trouble getting famotidine, try Zantac Extra Strength. I don't know whether 2 tablets is a little extreme. But, it seems to be working for me. Aussies - definately try it if you can't get famotidine. It might help you too.

In the meantime, I've ordered some Pepcid AC off eBay. Will have to wait and see whether it gets through customs or not. Anyone else tried this successfully?

BTW - this website is sensational. So much good information.

Hi,

I too am from australia. I ordered some off Ebay.. generic famo, buts its exactly the same. It was checked by customs thou.. my package had the sticker that said customs had a look at it. But other than that it got through aok to me and relatively quick timing too from the states :)

hope that helps!

Happy drinking!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

I've noticed that drinking while sitting (like while watching TV or at a meal) will cause more blushing and side effects than drinking while standing and walking around.  I supposed that more circulation from walking helped flush out the system, but its not a scientific theory.  Anyone else have experience with the difference between sitting and standing?

Yeah I've noticed this as well. If I'm at a bar at a table, and I'm sitting, I feel the flushness coming. So I stand up and it tends to go away. It's weird. Then again, this whole Asian flush business is weird.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Dimples25 and whoever is reading,

Thanks, I'll check out Ebay.  I'm assuming that Japan doesn't distribute pepcid ac here then.  For anybody's info, I'm half Japanese and I take 2x 20maximum strength Pepcid AC that I got in America about an hour before I start drinking and it works like a charm, but I'm almost out!  Anyway, if any readers are in Japan or know of pepcid ac in Japan, I would be greatly appreciative for any info regarding purchasing.  arigatou!

I think I'm done with Pepcid. Since I found this forum about a month ago, my drinking has gone up so much. With the redness gone, I didn't realize my tolerance would go up, which I initially thought  was a bonus. I used to have 3-4 beers, turn bright red and be finished for the night. Now with the pepcid, I can drink 4x that plus shots and wine and be semi-ok. I'm not a big guy, barely 5'7, anywhere b/t 122-130 lbs. Plus, I don't know how many of you are like this, but I can't drink on a full stomach. I always drink on an empty stomach, otherwise I feel like yakking immediately. My point is, I'm drinking all the time now. I've been drinking at work, which I never would have done in a million years before.  I lost a girlfriend recently cause she said I've been drinking too much.  If you can control your alcohol, that's great. I thought I could, but I've realized that I have to drink to excess. I drank 3 5ths of dewars (in a 1/2hr)yesterday and  9 beers overall. I miss days of work, and yesterday I walked into a tree. That sounds kind of funny, but It wasn't when it happened. I'm gonna try to go 1 week without 1 drink. I guess it's a blessing and a curse

Dude, that sounds like the right move.  If you're drinking too much and it's affecting your normal life, then it's good lay off.  I've also noticed that since I discovered using Pepcid that I've been drinking *WAY* more than I ever did in my whole life.  I think I just might join you in chllin' on the drinking for a while.  Not saying that I won't ever drink, but  I am starting to worry about too much drinking.  It's cool to chill out on the weekend, but missing work and walking into things without trying to be funny is totally another thing.

Interested to hear how things work out.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Dimples25,
Thanks, I'll check it out.  I actually just bought from "47farenheit" though.  It's a store on Ebay.  It was 150p of maximum pepcid ac for a total of $47.72 (including shipping and handling to Japan), so $.32/pill.  Not bad.  I'll compare that to "pharmartintl".  Thanks again (^-^)/

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

can you get them in china or hongkng?

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

sweatpea,

check out ebay and the above listed seller/stores on ebay. they sell to "worldwide" and so i am assuming china/hongkong would be included, but you should email the seller via ebay to make sure.i happened to have an american bank account so it was easy to set up paypal and pay, but you can probably still do it without an account in america. anyway, check it out. i haven't received anything, seeing as it isn't supposed to arrive for another few days, but i am pretty confident it will arrive as i was told.  i'll keep you posted.:D

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey guys, I'm a college student and whenever I go to a party or social gathering, I'd have to limit myself to half a beer or maybe a hard lemonade. This has affected my social life for so long and I'm so glad I found this forum.  Upon reading about your guys results I immediately bought a 50 pack of Pepcid AC. This will impact my social life so much, I don't know how to thank you guys. So...

Here's my stats and test.

Ethnicity: Vietnamese
Height: 5'6
Weight: 130

8 PM: Bowl of Pho (Noodle soup)
11 PM: Small Fajita
1 AM: 20 mg Pepcid AC
1:40 AM: 5 oz malt drink @ 7%
2 AM: rosy cheeks, but hardly noticable
2:10 AM: the other 5 oz of the drink
2:25 AM: slight rush of blood to head, pink, but not red
3:00 AM: barely pink anymore

This was all done tonight. Awesome~ Wonder what 40 mg or possibly 60mg will do for me.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

HOLY GRAIL

Folks, I believe your miseries may be close to an end. I have stumbled upon a pending patent involving the combination of H1 and H2 blockers.  I am not making representations on this. Just have a look yourselves.

http://www.freshpatents.com/Composition … escription

I guess we could wait for the product to come out?

Some unscrupulous people may however decide to apply the information for their own benefit though. Please be careful with mixing and experimenting with medications.  I have no idea what Ranitidine plus Claritin would do to you.

All the best.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey Flushie... yes here in Oz we arent lucky enough to get the pepcid...

Not sure about the Zantac (see Sweetpeas response to Zantac).  Why cant you ebay, you dont have credit card for Paypal?? If u dont have credit card then u cant really buy anything overseas.

Do you have a doctor that u are on good terms with to prescribe it to you?

Is there anyone out there that has Used Zantac in Australia ? or anything thats easy access. ty :D

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hi flushie...

If you have a current bank account then u can use that in Pay Pal.

http://paypaloffers.com.au/addbankaccount.html

So set it up and go on Ebay and buy some stuff.

Really i shoudlnt be condoning such activities for one so young.... hehehe lol

And no i havent tried Zantac but some previous posts said it works for them. So who knows.. u got to test it for yourself. Preferably at home so no one sees u if u turn red regardless.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey Flushie,

I tried Zantac once or twice. I only kind of works for me. I reckon it depends upon how bad your flush is - I reckon mine is about medium or slightly above medium (ie I flush quickly but don't get the nausea and vomiting etc).

Take a look at the link KMan posted - the article is trialing a combo of ranitidine and claratyne or something like that. But do be careful, I'm not sure if anyone here has tried that combo so I dunno what the side effects are.
