I hope this drug comes out as soon as possible. So that many people can enjoy alcohol without side-effects. But I have a question. I'm Asian too, recently I got this Asian flush. To be exact I had this 2 years ago. And from then on, I'm experiencing all the negative effects of Asian flush. But what puzzles me is that before that I was perfectly fine. I could drink for days with no side-effects. And I wouldn't turn to red or what so ever. But now after one shot, my whole body turns to red, and my heart beats so fast, and unless I vomit I won't feel better. But after vomiting I feel relieved, and my face turns to normal again. What is all this, is it possible that ALDH enzyme becomes inactive because of excessive drinking? I'm lost, but after reading the posts here gave me some hope of becoming normal again.

Hi Guys,

I am an asian girl who has the flush and was reading up on it tonight.

Just came across an article about a new preservative and sulphur remover from wine/champagne/juice that prevents you from going red or dealing with a massive hangover.

As I can't post links in this thread look up So2Go foodie cravings on google and read the article then at the bottom the link for the actual product can be found.

The product is called SO2G0 and is a spray or sachet.

It is made in my town Perth, Australia and is available for international delivery. Going to try this very soon! It seems like a big hit as there are many bottle shop stocking it. Hope it works!

It claims to remove Free Sulphur Dioxide.  Some people get headache from it.  Asian Flush is caused by acetaldehyde build up in the body.

i am not an asian, i am Turkish actually and i suffer from asian flush... Is there anything new about ALDA1. I really need the new information about this medicine to get rid of this ridiculous disease... thanks

How is it going at ALDEA?  I read that there was some funding that was procured for clinical trials of Alda-1.  I posted earlier about a reply I received from a researcher at Raptor Pharmaceuticals concerning some issues with Alda-1 that still need to be hashed out.  "...Alda-1, for its part, has compelling proof-of-principle that involves the actual mutated enzyme.  But from a chemist's perspective, Alda-1 looks to have some potential toxicological issues, especially for a long-term, repetitive-dosing application like Asian flush.  For example, a primary hydrolysis product of Alda-1 is 2,6-dichlorobenzoic acid, a known breakdown product of herbicides and a compound with some level of known toxicity..." Has there been any progress?

While I was looking up Alda-1 info, I came across this (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/ar … 9912000040) in a related article.  Alpha lipoic acid supplements are available in nutrition stores under liver health category.  I haven't heard about its use on alcohol flush symptoms but may be a worth investigation.

However, would this increase in aldh2 activity mean that aldh2 activity would have to be present already, as the genetic portion of asian flush means that we don't have the biological and chemical capability of producing the enzyme in the first place?

I tried it but didn't make noticeable difference.  I bought Alpha lipoic acid for different purpose so it's no loss for me.  From what I've read, AF sufferers do have aldh2 enzyme but not enough of it.

Importantly, treatment with Alda-1 and Alda-89 also reduced behavioral impairment in both wild-type and ALDH2*2 mice."

Based of a press release in august, 2014, aldea pharmaceuticals posted this after closing a $24 million financing deal:

"The financing will be used to advance Aldea’s lead drug candidate, AD-6626, into clinical trials, including evaluating proof-of-concept for the treatment of subjects with acute alcohol intoxication and funding subsequent Phase 2 trials of intravenous (IV) AD-6626 in an emergency room (ER) setting. In addition, Aldea is studying oral AD-6626 for the treatment of subjects with the rare genetic disease Fanconi anemia, and anticipates the financing will support a Phase 1/2 proof-of-biology study in that indication."

While this is undoubtedly going to take many years and right now, Aldea is mainly looking at other (more life-threatening) uses of alda-1, I am remaining optimistic. I honestly believe that alda-1 is going to remedy our conditions. Fingers crossed!!!

I don't think that such a compound from a biotech supplier would be safe to ingest. Are there any studies/research papers that show that pure Alda-1 can be taken orally by a human test subject, like fomepizole?

I asked about clinical trial of alda1 to Ph.D Rosen who is principal investigator of Stanford University.

and She answeared now they are on phase 2 clinical test step and it is said that it would take 5 to 10 years to make that product on

commercialization.

and the product you can get on the internet is not proper type of drug to take.

And they said. Alda-1 intself doesnt work much(low efficiency), but when it work together wih alda-89 , they have amazing effect.

But the problem is that Alda89 has toxicity to human race. so now they ve tried to find replacement of Alda89.

even though they find certain substance to replace Alda89, it will also take another years to take it on the market.

Given that the cause of high level aetaldehyde build up in the body when drinking is due to fast metabolism of alcohol by certain individuals with such digestive gene, the solution is to slow down that metabolic rate when alcohol is consumed such as Convivia (fomepizole).  If not, all the treatments to speed up aetaldehyde dehydrogenase won't be much of benefit when it comes to enjoying alcoholic beverages.  What I mean by that is, those with such metabolic rate (such as myself) hardly get any buzz when drinking.  Instead, they get sick from aetaldehyde.  For that, not drinking alcohol is much cheaper and safer solution than drinking and taking treatments like Alda-1 or 89 to combat aetaldehyde while missing out on buzz / happy feeling.
