I just wish there was something I could take that gets to the root of the problem, instead of merely masking the effects. Like some miracle over-the-counter pill in a bottle marked "genetic-curse-be-gone" that would eliminate my pesky intolerance for alcohol.

oh, but alas... you cannot combat a genetic defect with a pill.

Any one tell me how antihistimines help for reduce redness when they drink alcohol?

Re: H1 Blockers - Antihistamines (Claritin, Allegra, Benadryl, etc.)

I asked my dermatologist about this and she said it may be caused by histamines being released. She recommended I try Allegra (fexofenadine) specifically, because it does not depress/ slow down any system. She stated that Pepcid AC is also an anti histamine. However, I have recently been using the energy supplement FRS, and noticed my problem has gotten much better. I have also noticed my seasonal allergies have been non-existent this spring. The primary ingredient in FRS is the anti-oxidant Quercetin. I googled quercetin and read that it has been very effective in eliminating seasonal allergies, as it helps maintain a healthy histamine balance in the body.

I don't know if this is due to the weather getting warmer (my flushing seems to be significantly aggravated by indoor heat) or the supplement.

I do not work for FRS or any company affiliated with them. Quercetin is available in supplement form. Just wanted to share this with others.
