Hey, you're right Eric.  You've really helped a lot of people out there and they should pay you!  You've made them a lot of money

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Pepcid definitely works to reduce the asian flush symptoms, no doubt.  In my experience it has gotten me drunk quicker and also lowered my overall tolerance.  3-4 beers is all I can drink now!  I've been known to down 6+.  Now, after that 4th beer I'm pretty much good to go, but I also feel more in control, and I'm sure if I mixed in more fluids (water, pedialyte) in between, I could go all night.  I also HIGHLY recommend sob'r k carbon pills to reduce the hangover the next day.  My regimen is this: 1 20mg pepcid at least 1 hour before drinking, then 2 sob'r k capsules on the way to the bar (to coat everything up, but not too soon after taking the pepcid or it might absorb it), then a capsule of sob'r k with every beer thereafter.  The next day I have no headache, just a bit of the lethargy.  I am going to try Beer Neutralizer next instead of sob'r k and post my results.  It's possible to use them in tandem, as the sob'r k is 100% pharmaceutical grade carbon.  The Beer Neutralizer has carbon as well as other ingredients that should specifically prevent beer related hangovers.  Could all be a gimmick, but they both offer money back guarantees.  So far I can say the pepcid/sob'r k combo is a winner.  Will post my results with the Beer Neutralizer.  Also, you guys should know that a liter of Pedialyte either the day after or before you go to bed will do wonders for that hangover as well.  I've drank with some pro's (being in and around many bands), and one band in particular had Pedialyte on their rider!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey everyone,

I have a new one. If you have the problem with heavy breathing with the rapid heart rate use the albuteral inhaler. This stuff is mainly used by people with asthma problems or with others that suffer from seasonal alergie issue with polen or grass cuttings. I think one reason why people get flushed is because they tend to overheat due to the rapid breathing and fast heart rate. Well I use the inhaler due to seasonal alergies. But one night I was drinking with some friends and used the usual Pepcid AC 20mg solution. But still felt heavy breathing in the chest. Well I just happen to have my inhaler and it working instantly. As soon as my chest opened my breathing went normal and up my pink face disappeared. So for the people who uses the Pepcid AC trick this stuff works without it. This stuff is also a great 1 and 2 punch with Pepcid.  Any doctor will perscribe albuteral  for alergie sufferers.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

I don't care about the redness I get all over my body when I drink but after 2 days later I get 10 millions rashes and hives all over my body. Redness is nothing compared to the itch. It feels like hell. Has anyone fine a cure for that?

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

let me tell you about my problem, i am an 18 year old boy from the UK, im white with no asian (or jewish, who ive also heard have the problem) background and i feel hot and bothered everytime i drink any kind of alcohol. occasionally this is it and i can drink all night without any problem but usually i get a kind of blotchy rash on my face, neck and chest. the thing is i never feel sick or any of the other conditions that have been expressed

the fact that i dont know if this will happen or not is frustrating as i can find no common link to the problem. therfor if i use pepcid or whatever then there is no way of telling if it is working

anyway does anybody else have the same kind of conditions as these?

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

I tried the Pepcid AC complete and it helped!!! I still turned pink but def. not fire hot red. Still felt the heart beat a little faster. All in all it def. helps but does not completely cure the asian glow. I feel like I could drink more with taking Pepcid AC. Only reason being is because without the pill the more I drank the more red I would get and the heart beat would increase.

*** I took 2 pepcid AC complete 30 mins before, along with some food (while I was eating). Was drinking beer.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

I ve yet to try it, but am going to get some pepcid straight away!  Just one thing, has anyone noticed any reduction in effectiveness of it whilst smoking?  Just came across this:

"Tobacco
In a study of 18 healthy people, cigarette smoking was found to decrease the acid blocking effects of famotidine.8 A double-blind, randomised study of 594 patients with duodenal ulcers found that smoking inhibited the ulcer-healing effect of famotidine.9
Top"

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey, I had also had the experience where sometimes i can drink like crazy and not get red at all but usually like 99% of the time i get red as a cherry. It was my 19th birthday, legal age for canadians so my buddies tried getting me hammered knowing it'd only take a few but it mustve been something i ate or drank cause i drank from 2pm, funneling beer till 9 when i finally passed out on a bar pool table. I just ran out and bought some Pepcid AC tho after reading this forum and i am gonna try it right now... got me a 12 pack of beer and a pack of Pepcid. Here we go!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Ok, i took 3, 10 mg pills and i drank 3 beers... so far its working!! Not getting very red... feel a bit warm but nowhere near as hot as my skin usually gets and my heart is beating a bit faster but not as much as it usually does.
So far i would give this solution a 7 out of 10, its not a total solution but it does help.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Just popped 2x10mg pepcid AC chewable tablets and just about to head for a few drinks... will post the results!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Sorry for my ignorance, but how exactly does take a pepcid (or similar) actually prevent the "glowing"? I'm 100% asian, and like every other member of my family, I am cursed with the glow... Ugh... The next time I go drinking with my friends I will try taking a pepcid, but I still am curious to know how exactly this works...

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey, I've been using Pepcid AC for a while now, and it works! Not completely, but like 75% which is more than I can say for antyhing else. And, without Pepcid I turn like TOMATO red.
Anyways, I was wondering if the generic brand of Pepcid (famotidine) would work equally as well.. This might be a stupid question because generic brands are usually supposed to be the exact same thing as the brand name ones, just cheaper... but I was thinking that there was something special about Pepcid specifically because no one on this has ever testified to their success stories of using just generic famotidine. :)
Any feedback on this would be great! THANKS!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

What a cool forum :)
I'm full Chinese and always get tomato red when I drink even one glass of beer.  I took 2 pepcid the other day and drank a full glass of house beer (7.5% alcohol) and no redness AT ALL!  2 hours later I turned a little bit pink, but that could be unrelated.

Has anyone tried taking a couple pills at intervals?  Like 2 an hour before you drink, and then 2 maybe 2 hours later if you happen to be still drinking?  Just wondering.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

The dude that created this forum is possibly the biggest legend to grace this planet. Many thanks, you've saved so many! Cutting to the chase, Im half australian, half asian and turn into a redasian after only a sip of alcohol. One night i tried 2x ZANTAC 150mg tablets 2hrs before drinking and was okay, but after my third glass (within 1hr) i began to turn beet, suggesting ZANTAC only delays the redness. Forget zantac, PEPCID is what works.Ive been taking a spin off brand (Pamacid 40), 2x 40mg tablet would see the redness reduced by 80% to a slight pinkish red on my cheek bones. Taking 3x 40mg (120mg total) reduced the redness completely. One side effect from using pepcid was the painful headache and hangover the next day. Small price to pay. By the way Pepcid AC is prescription olny in australia. Pamacid 40 (40mg) comes in packs of 30 tablets for $25 . CHEERS

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey, Just wanted to update. The stuff works so well. I would have to change my rating of it to 9 out of 10. Initially i still felt warmer... and got a bit pink but now its crazy, i drank 3 beers and a bottle of wine after to really put it to the test. I got drunk as hell cause of my low tolerance to alcohol but look forward to changing that with Pepcid.

Drink up ppl!!

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hey William, when did you take the pills?  I found taking it an hour before drinking helps it out a little more.  Anybody else have some insight as to when to take the pepcid?  With food or without.  Thanks.  Yeah, it works pretty well though.

94

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

take it about 1-2 hrs before drinking with or without food. i found that 2hrs before with food worked best

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

I tried the chewable Pepcid tablets the other day, and although only had three beers with food, found I went a lot lett red than usual.  Does anyone know whether taking the chewable form works quicker than a "to be swallowed" tablet?
I only took 2x10mg, and think that one more may help more...

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

SO quick question for all you guys that have taken the Pepcid Challenge...I usually take 60mg-80mg (3-4 pills xtrastrength) 30 mins before i drink.  but what im getting at is afterwards when you gotta go to the bathroom and do a number 2.  is it normal for your stool to be mushy for days afterwards.  pardon the graphic langauge but does this happen to you guys? I think its due to the massive famotidine coating inside my stomach but this may be unhealthy in the long run. anyone? oh yah im 6' 175 lbs and consider myself healthy.

Re: H2 Blockers (Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Axid)

Hi   My wife is 1/2 Chinese and suffers terribly from the red face and tight breathing, Even when she drinks just a little to be sociable she ends up feeling awfull. We have been reading these posts and are very encouraged, but have not tried the H2 solution yet.  I want to comment on another post several pages back which mentioned other digestion problems and their cures.  I believe lactose intolerance is caused by an enzyne deficiency and people who suffer from that can take an enzyne pill. Also there are enzyne pills that are taken to aid digestion of gassy carbs ie Beano. I know that we are talking about different enzynes here but has anyone ever tried these.  Maybe  these extra enzynes are able to break down the acetaldehyde, and if drug companies can make cheap pills that solve these types of problems then why doesn't someone make a pill formulated for this.  Also does the Pepcid reduce or get rid of the tight breating that accompanies the redness or is there a need for an inhaler as well.
Any and all comments and replys welcome.  thanks

  Brat

How do you get rid of the hives?

Kenny wrote:

Are you getting hives from drinking or from Pepcid, Zantac, etc.?  If it's from taking one Pepcid, I thought that I had read somewhere a while back that one of the rare side effects of Pepcid is that some people will break out in hives or a rash.

I get hives from alcohol in general. Does anyone else get hives besides me and is there a cure for it?
