One of my wife’s main purposes in coming to Iceland is to bathe in the rich, blue mineral baths. A couple of days ago, we spent a few hours at Myvatn Nature Baths (Jardbodin vid Myvatn), which was fun. The water is an unreal glowing blue! (shot with Phantom 2 and Ricoh GR camera).

Remember to travel with extra cables! I use an old Phantom battery to charge my Black Pearl monitor / diversity receiver, and the JST connector just lost a wire. I can jam the broken wire in and make the connection work, but it would be better if I had a spare cable here in Iceland. ...

What a difference 20 feet makes! On the left is a shot of Grjótagjá (Game of Thrones shooting location in Iceland) I took with my Sony A7R (see original post). I switched between 21mm and 35mm lenses, but couldn’t get a picture that made the cracked lava tube look dramatic. Using the Phantom 2 with Ricoh ...

This morning, we went to find Grjótagjá, a small lava cave in Iceland with a geothermal spring inside. I later learned that this cave was the location of Jon Snow and Ygritte’s hookup in Game of Thrones. The cave is accessible from two holes in the old lava tube and is fun to check out, but ...

I did a few flights in Iceland today, which was a lot of fun—the country is so beautiful! I’m not really here on an aerial-imaging trip, but my wife has been patient enough to let me do a flight here and then. She is the best. 🙂 We are in Borgarnes tonight, which sits on ...

I’m all packed up for a trip to Iceland! My wife said I could bring one drone, but I’m sneaking a second one on the trip. I have a Phantom 2 w/Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal and Gopro Hero 3+ Black w/Ragecams 5.4mm lens mod in a Go Professional rolling hard case, and a Phantom 2 w/Ricoh ...

Here are some stills from Gordon Laing’s visit. Shot with DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ in Adobe DNG raw.

While at Stanford University for a concert yesterday, I sent a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ up for some still shots. Shot in Adobe DNG raw and processed in Lightroom.

During a demo of my Ground Station-enabled Phantom 2, I did something stupid. I was at the base of the beautiful, rolling hills of eastern Fremont and wanted to send the Phantom 2 up over the hills on a waypoint-driven mission. It looked like the hills went up at least 400’ above us, so I ...
