Aerial footage of Burning Man 2014. Shot with DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter, Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal, GoPro HERO 3+ Black, with DJI Lightbridge and Lilliput monitor as FPV and livestreaming solution. Some of this footage was streamed live to Burning Man’s Ustream live webcast during the event. If you’re interested in what it was like to ...

The flying of drones at Burning Man was highly-regulated in 2014. I was told by Firefly, the main organizer of drones this year, that a big reason for the new regulations was that some idiot flew over the Temple last year during the moment of silence before it burned. This prompted hundreds of complaints from ...

A secluded inlet near Duiker Island outside of Hout Bay Harbour, Western Cape, South Africa, houses three poacher rowboats sitting on a bed of thousands of illegally-harvested abalone shells. Aerial perspectives like this one (shot with DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter) show the power that low-cost drones can give to conservation organizations.

George Krieger took my Lightbridge-enabled Phantom 2 and walked down the entire length of CalAcad (we were watching live on a large display). At times, the entire rain forest and planetarium was ...

DJI hung out at last night’s photography-themed California Academy of Sciences NightLife. We had Phantoms and a couple S1000s on display—lots of fun! Huge thanks to Romeo Durscher, Mark Johnson, Barry Blanchard, George Krieger, Jeff Cable, Steve Mandel, Archer Koch for helping us out.
