Jan 11, 2005: On December 3, 2003, I posted
a message in my web journal about the Asian Blush, which quickly resulted in over 100 very-informative comments. This forum is intended to be an information source for those of us looking for information about why we turn red when we drink alcohol.

It does seem like it's going to be a while.
Convivia, developed from 4-MP, has been around for years whereas alda-1, as you have just uncovered, is brand new.
Just looking at that article though, apperently the mutant ALDH2 gene may be associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's too. geez. Something to worry about in our later years to top it all off...
Ahh fair play to them
Wonder how long it will take to hit the market in Asia...
Thanks for posting your results. I also wonder how effective 4-MP (Convivia afaik) is in supressing acetaldehyde. I always thought raptor was reforumating the drug to be administered in an oral solution but I sometimes wonder if they are encountering problems with levels acculumating faster then the drug can neutralize them. 4-MP has been known as an effective treatment since the 80s but has not been exactly accessible.
It will be curious to see what (if anything) they do with it!
As far as the flower though maybe it still has some promise. I find the drinking to be non agreeable due to the physical effects but I seem to get that buzz ; with pepacid it is the exact opposite! Some of the physical effects go away but then I can't get any sort of psychoactive effects. What a bad deal eh?

only joking. Congratulations on finding this solution. How much redness did you get if any? Bit busy atm, so I cant try it, but ill definitely keep it in mind and an eye on this thread
yeah zantac hasnt really worked for me the times i experiemented with it but pepcid drastically reduces the flush effects. Still a bit of pink floating around the face but then again ive been known for my vainity. All in all a good solution for knocking back two or three beverages (maybe you people can throw down more personally the grog in my belly doesnt make me feel so crash hot - pun intended).
to answer smithy on Q.2: No, but your if your body adapts to alcohol it develops and utilizes an auxilary process (which then becomes very much the primary system in dealing with and processing large amounts of alcohol) called the MEOS system. People who drink alot are primed for this route of catylisation - although im guessing becoming an alcoholic is not what you have in mind when you are asking of developing adaptability to the substance
It may help to secure funding or grants for the organization (if this is in fact the hurdle they are having problems overcoming) if we show collective interest in their research and outcomes. As one potential proprietary market for their research it would be a good idea to touch bases with them by writing to the address listed on their website and let them know of our existence and take it from there.
It may be effective in terms of generating results to mobilize as an organization, maybe come up with a charter etc to carry more clout instead of just being a simple discussion board. Your thoughts on this people?
But back on topic, I could write out a cover letter to The Department of Veterans Affairs, letting us know who we are and enquiring on the status of this particular project
I notice alot of eurasians/mixed race people are reporting the flush and mutant enzyme commonly. Perhaps even a higher proportion given there are not as many of us as compared to traditional race castes. edit: Actually it would be great if you could create a thread with demographics: age, sex, race, location, and to throw a subjective spanner in the works: attitude to drinking. We do not have the financial and organizational power to conduct efficient suverys - but it would be good to get some sort of data to start
BTW I posted my accumulated research here: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=258303 a while ago now under the username earthsuit.ga (second last post)
