"Dear Stephanie:
Unfortunately we have no definite time frame. The registration takes a long time, and we have no access to the authority reviewing process.
Hope to have your understanding.
Best regards,
Kelin"
Just got a reply from Uni pharma!
"Dear Stephanie:
Thank you for your interest in Convivia. Currently this item is still undergoing registration. Once we have the approal from authority, we will announce publicly.
Best regards,
Kelin"
Not exactly sure what this means/how long this will take but I replied asking and will keep you guys posted. Fingers crossed!!!!!
Based of a press release in august, 2014, aldea pharmaceuticals posted this after closing a $24 million financing deal:
"The financing will be used to advance Aldea’s lead drug candidate, AD-6626, into clinical trials, including evaluating proof-of-concept for the treatment of subjects with acute alcohol intoxication and funding subsequent Phase 2 trials of intravenous (IV) AD-6626 in an emergency room (ER) setting. In addition, Aldea is studying oral AD-6626 for the treatment of subjects with the rare genetic disease Fanconi anemia, and anticipates the financing will support a Phase 1/2 proof-of-biology study in that indication."
While this is undoubtedly going to take many years and right now, Aldea is mainly looking at other (more life-threatening) uses of alda-1, I am remaining optimistic. I honestly believe that alda-1 is going to remedy our conditions. Fingers crossed!!!
Copy pasted from a website reviewing raptor pharmaceuticals while researching a bit... Makes me very discouraged about convivia :(
"Convivia is taking a drug that is already on the market for specific types of alcohol poisoning and using it as a treatment for Asian Flush. The drug, 4-methylpyrazole, does work: it is already on the market as a treatment for antifreeze and/or methanol poisoning. It blocks the enzyme responsible for converting the alcohol to the aldehyde, so the result is that prevents the ethanol from being broken down. The reduces the build-up of acetaldehyde, a by-product of ethanol processing, which is what causes Asian Flush. However, the flip-side effect is that it keeps ethanol floating around in the subjects’ bodies for an extended period of time, which effectively causes people to be more drunk—the impact depending on the dosage of 4-methylpyrazole. The better it works, the longer the patient’s exposure to the side effects of extended ethanol presence in their system, and the more intoxicated the patient would become.
We believe that, as a result of this particular side-effect as well as the fact it’s a gimmicky drug designed purely for treating the results of a vice known to carry negative side effects, the drug will never be approved. This is likely why RPTP decided not to continue past Stage 2a trials with 32 clients, and instead decided to focus on out-licensing the drug. In the past several years, RPTP has only succeeded in licensing it out to one company, Uni Pharma, in 2010, and Uni Pharma appears to have abandoned it. The Uni Pharma website (www.uni-pharma.com) lists its pharmaceutical partners, and RPTP is conspicuously absent. Likewise, Convivia is conspicuously absent from Uni Pharma’s list of products. Since announcing the licensing deal with Uni Pharma in June 2010 covering Taiwan with the option of South Korea as well, there have been no further press releases from either company concerning the drug.
So I've been taking Pepcid for a while now, does anyone else still feel a hot face even though there's no visible flushing? I often find that I feel like I'm flushed when I'm not actually red, not sure why
Does anyone know what email I can use to reach out to Uni Pharma?
@Dalmore,
Ok that makes sense... hopefully this product will be available this year, and soon!!
Do you happen to know about the status of the drug in the US?
^ @Dalmore, this is very very interesting, are you suggesting taking Alpha lipoic acid supplements prior to consumption of alcohol and seeing whether or not it would ameliorate asian flush symptoms?
However, would this increase in aldh2 activity mean that aldh2 activity would have to be present already, as the genetic portion of asian flush means that we don't have the biological and chemical capability of producing the enzyme in the first place?

Happy new year!!! :D
Recently, I've got mail from Conviva.
They have no plan to develop it. but have partner in Taiwan.
maybe, a company in Taiwan is developing.
unfortunately, no detail info about that company. ㅠㅅㅠ
Hi djelaj12!
What does this mean? Will they be releasing the drug this year?
PLEASE! I'm dying for a solution to this problem. Does anyone have any news about convivia?? :)
Has anyone tried the No Red Face Formula? I cannot believe it but I'm seriously debating spending $37 for it... is it worth it. anyone know?
^But it will lead to stomach irritation and bleeding.. so beware.. whoops!
Also, I was doing a little research.
I know some people may say it's dangerous, but has anyone tried taking aspirin before drinking? I believe that aspirin has been shown to inhibit alcohol dehydrogenase (thus we would get more intoxicated much quicker), but that would prevent acetaldehyde from building up in the bloodstream.
Also, isnt Convivia (4-MP) proposed for asian glow because it inhibits alcohol dehydrogenase?
Just a thought...
Has anyone tried eating a lot of fructose/glucose before drinking? Not sure if it's been mentioned before. Normally I cannot handle and turn very red when I drink sugary drinks, so i'm not too sure how well it would work.
