Hey guys! So I think I found a great combo: AF Formula, NoGlo for three weeks and Pepcid 30 mins before drinking. It might be pricey, but it works perfectly. I usually get severe flush, but this combo almost completely eliminated the flush. Any slight flush subsided in a couple minutes. I will try only AF Formula after two more weeks and let you guys know if NoGlo helps after two weeks as well.

I don't think that I can post links here, but there is a very interesting picture article drawn by a med school student at UCSF that explains the Asian flush in simple terminology as well as offers a remedy for the flush. This remedy is, of course, Pepcid, but the author also recommends taking Pepcid immediately before drinking to prevent the glow. It can be found by searching for "Medical Mythbusters Asian Glow."

By the way, sofla,

Can you please outline your timeline while using ranitidine, as in how long you wait between taking the medication and drinking? Thanks!

Hey sofla,

Wow, thanks so much for your awesome post. It should be really helpful for a lot of people, as it is for me. And congratulations for finding out what works for you!

I've tried using NAC, which is a derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine, and did not have great results. NAC by itself did not reduce flushing.

Has anyone tried using niacin in the form of brewer's yeast pills? Or brewer's yeast pills with Pepcid/Zantac? I know that there is already a thread on this, but I wanted to resurrect the topic here. I believe that niacin is supposed to activate the NAD enzyme that neutralizes acetaldehyde.

Thanks, Dalmore. Sounds like a good combo for both internal and external symptoms.

Happy holidays, everyone!

Sorry to hear, Dalmore. Is AF Reducer, however, the best solution you have tried for alleviating external symptoms? What has been the most effective combination of supplements that you have tried? Antacids and NoGlo worked well for me for a short time before my flushing recurred after a few test runs.

Yeah, sounds good, Dalmore. I agree; hopefully Convivia makes it to the market sooner than later. Did the flushing eventually come back after a while when you were using AFR, or did it stay in check? Did you ever try taking 4 capsules of Acetium as well?

Sorry for the questions, just really curious.

Hey Dalmore,

Wow, that is great news. Thanks a lot for sharing, and congrats on finding something that works for you. I may have to try it now. Seems better than AF Formula, which supposedly only works after a month of daily usage, and it's cheaper too. Will you try to pair it with Pepcid/Zantac?

Hello Asiangirl90,
Sorry that neither of the products worked for you. It didn't work for me either. Good luck with the Zantac combo!

Congrats! I hope it works for you. I usually get my Pepcid from eBay.

Hello asiangirl90!

Sorry that you could not order Acetium in the UK, I know that the Biohit site is hard to navigate. However, I tried Acetium and did not have much success with it. Please let us know how Alcotox works for you!

Good to hear, Dalmore!

Yeah, I've been trying to get Acetium to work for me too. Did you also take the Acetium with the antacid an hour or so before drinking? I tried taking Acetium right before drinking and it didn't work for me.

Hey everyone,

Just found out about another hangover supplement that reduces acetaldehyde, Alcotox. Bottle of 20 capsules available for about 17 bucks USD (10 UK pounds) online. There's a positive review up on asianflush.com, but it could just be some advertising.

Yup, I just tried Acetium as well. Had 4 capsules and had only a little noticeable flushing. I wonder how 2 Acetium and 2 Pepcid would work.

Hey vagrantblue,

Thanks for sharing your story with us. I have heard of some flush sufferers who seemed to have developed the active enzyme after drinking regularly. Didn't think it was true, however. That's great! I've read that drinking a beer every night before going to bed works to some extent. Might have to try it out.

Hey Dalmore,

Yeah, I've read up on Acetium, and it seems like L-cysteine is the main ingredient. Don't know what else is in it, but the website claims that there is no other product like it on the market. You can readily buy L-cysteine pills for much less, and the pills have more mgs of L-cysteine than Acetium does. However, the fact that it targets acetaldehyde specifically is interesting. NAC, which is a natural derivative of L-cysteine, has been recommended on this forum, and it is a part of my supplementation before drinking.

I've just emailed Biohit, who produces Acetium, and asked them if it targets the Asian flush because they do not mention it on their website. I'll let you know if they respond and what they say.

Hello miksu68,

Thanks for your post! And don't worry about the English, you communicated your message well. Can you say that Acetium does, for a fact, get rid of the Asian flush? If so, that is great! It is available here in the US, fortunately, and I hope that it shows up in Asia soon as well.

Hey guys,

So I found somewhere on another blog that Zinc Carnosine may be a viable alternative to Zantac/Pepcid. It helps maintain a stable stomach environment by promoting mucus to line the stomach. It supposedly has no side effects when taken twice per day. Any ideas?

Hi NoGlo team,

Thanks for your response! I know that many people have found success with your product, but, unfortunately, I'm still looking for something that works for me.

I'm looking forward to reading the results of your trial, and thanks for all of the work you do for all those who suffer from AFR.

Yeah, NoGlo was a no go for me even after a couple of months of daily usage for some reason. About to purchase some really cheap Alka Balance tablets online and I'll report back with results. I'm not really expecting much at all, but I hope to be surprised!

Thanks a lot, Dalmore. But reducing flushing by about half sounds a little promising to me, since everything else seems to be hit and miss. Maybe if I can find some cheap alkaline tablets I'll try it out.

Hi everyone,
Hopefully there are people who still visit this forum, even after this recent influx of spam messages.

Since I have tried everything from Pepcid AC to NoGlo with inconsistent results, I've been looking for another solution to this problem. Lately, I've found this product which claims to reduce the flush by restoring normal acidity levels in the body.

They're called 7.2 Alkaline Booster tablets.

There's a video on Youtube that explains how the product works. Just look up "Ray Gin Asian Flush" and you'll find it (sorry, but I can't link).

Can anybody verify the science behind it? Seems legit to me and Dr. Ray Gin, who appears in the video, is an actual doctor with credentials whose patients are pretty happy with him, according to Yelp reviews online.

I might just give this a try, but I'm done with spending money on products that don't work.

Hey Wesley Chan,

Pepcid still only slightly works for me, but it is serviceable. For the bloodshot eyes, Visine or any other eye drop usually clears mine right up.
