a message in my web journal about the Asian Blush, which quickly resulted in over 100 very-informative comments. This forum is intended to be an information source for those of us looking for information about why we turn red when we drink alcohol.

I have posted earlier about a Cysteine. However, there are a whole other set of issues about delivering Cysteine to target acetaldehyde. I believe there is a focused discussion on that itself. There are some pending patents for a kind of slow release cysteine combined with some other chemicals. For now, I would suggest not trying to push yourself.
I don't know if you will push up your "tolerance", but think about it this way... Acetaldehyde is poisonous. Does it make sense to drink more and more of a poison to try to increase your "tolerance" to the poison? In the process, you will be seriously poisoning yourself.
So this whole not breaking down acetaldehyde causes redness right? And pepcid only hides the effects. So everyone that uses pepcid should be in the same situation as me right when you drink like 6 beers you start to feel the puking sensation your body is trying to tell you to stop drinking...
There are some people who can drink freely like 10+ beers without the sick feeling. They still have the acetaldehyde in them right? since pepcid only hides the effects. the non breaking down of acetaldehyde is what causes this feeling right? so how can other people who have the asian blush (who take pepcid) be able to drink 10+ beers without this sick puking body rejecting feeling?
i see thx K. well that really sucks for me...
so do you think this is something I could build a tolerance against if i push myself to the limit when i drink like drink 7 beers (which may make me puke cause of the acetaldehyde). maybe my body will slowly get use to it? probably not but eh worth a thought i guess.
or
i was reading that people were taking the cheerz pills to help break down the acetaldehyde to reduce cancer risk... is that something i could take to help drink more?
uh... i just looked up the price of cheerz and it was like $16 for 16 pills... is there anything else that's proven to work as well as cheerz to help breakdown acetaldehyde
Hi, I have been following/reading this board for a while now. Pecid AC max in the US is like $15-16 for 50 tablets. I went to meijers and they had a product same as Pepcid AC max for $10 50 count so i'll be testing that hopefully it works. Then i'll save $5 WOOT! but on to the reason im posting...
before I found out about this Pepcid phenomnia I would drink 1 beer and turn red then i would drink another 1 and get this full and sick feeling. I couldn't even sip or drink a 3rd beer, as if my body was rejecting it. Now that I take pepcid ac max. The only difference of me not taking pepcid and taking it is I dont turn red.
I'll drink like 3 beers and just have that warm feeling in the face but no redness, but when i try to drink 4 beers I get that feeling that I cant drink anymore. My body like rejects the alcohol and I feel like puking. From what i've read it seems like people who take pepcid can drink forever. Does anyone else get this "full, rejecting" effect after taking pepcid?
