Grjotagja (Grjótagjá) cave is part of a dramatic rift that tears across Iceland near Lake Myvatn (and is where a Jon Snow / Ygritte scene was shot in Game of Thrones).

This morning, we went to find Grjótagjá, a small lava cave in Iceland with a geothermal spring inside. I later learned that this cave was the location of Jon Snow and Ygritte’s hookup in Game of Thrones. The cave is accessible from two holes in the old lava tube and is fun to check out, but the lava tube / rift itself is much more interesting. I sent my Phantom 2 with Ricoh GR camera up in the air and snapped a few pictures that show how dramatic the tear in the earth is, from above.
