The best way to practice your piloting skills is by flying figure 8s. You need control of all 4 channels and a good sense of orientation to do a smooth figure 8. The goal, of course, is to be able to fly smoothly for your video compositions, and to comfortable flying in any orientation. You also need to be able to react quickly and decisively if something goes wrong. When I first started flying quadcopters, I was just as likely to roll the wrong way into a tree as I was to roll the correct way, especially when presented with a stressful situation. 🙂
