3D-printed Rivian Wheel Center Cap for 21″ Aero Wheels
Articles
For visual appeal, it’s common to remove the Rivian 21″ Aero Wheel Covers and then cover the exposed center hole with Rivian Wheel Center Caps ($25 ea). A plastics engineer noticed that the Wheel Center Caps from the Aero Wheel Covers are easy to remove, so he designed a wheel center cap that supports the snap fit design with locking tabs. For a Father’s Day project, I took some time for myself and 3D-printed 4 of the covers using a Bambu Lab X1-Carbon. The fit was perfect!
Update, 6 weeks in: I originally printed PETG-CF caps, but they didn’t hold up. I’ve re-printed them in ABS and also made metal support rings (see below).
Here are the new versions in ABS:

I also made support rings by bending 2mm stainless steel rods with a 3D-printed tube bender. I scaled this one up 150% and it sort of worked–I have no idea how to use a tube bender, but by bending the rod half way, removing and re-inserting, and then bending the other way, I was able to get it almost all the way around into a circle. Then, I used two pliers to bend it the rest of the way before cutting the rod.
