NOAA restricted overflight discussion in Northern California for quadcopters
ArticlesNOAA restricted overflight discussion in Northern California for quadcopters
Hi, everyone. I put together a Storify post that talks about NOAA restricted overflight zones in Northern California and FAA guidelines governing UAS hobby use and airspace classifications. Notably, the 400’ ceiling that everyone references is on paper only as “suggested guidelines” from an FAA advisory circular from 1981, directed at hobbyists. Class G airspace shows that we should be able to fly in unrestricted airspace to 700-1200’ (and up to 14,500’), depending on distance to other classes of airspace.
I welcome links to further discussion about the issue, as the information out there doesn’t seem to be conclusive.
