My travel setup for the DJI Phantom quadcopter is a Nanuk 940 case with cubed foam. The case is $166 (shipped free with Prime) at Amazon, and I really like it because it’s built well, not insanely heavy (8.4 lbs, empty), and has easy-to-open, locking clamps.

The Nanuk holds a TON of stuff, including the Phantom w/Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal, transmitter, 2 GoPro cameras, 6-7 x 2200 mAH 3S batteries, a full FPV kit including 7" LCD, receiver, cables, Fatshark Dominator glasses in its semi-hard case (not shown), tools, 4 extra props, and extra batteries.

But $166 is a lot of money, and a lot of people are now using the Duratool MJ-139-20.5 Weatherproof Tool Box, which is $39.99 (+$10 shipping). The Duratool case has virtually the same internal dimensions (19.6" x 13.7" x 8" ID, vs the 20" x 14" x 8" ID of the Nanuk 940). It’s cubed foam is also pick-and-pluck, but doesn’t reach all the way down, reviewers say. However, it’s not hard to just cut any foam that you can’t pluck out. The web says that the Duratool case is 11.5 lbs empty (unverified), so it’s heavier than is the Nanuk.

I just ordered a Duratool case for a second Phantom. It’s probably not as well made, but it is $116 cheaper, which is a big deal.
