Neetto silicone headphone hanger with 3D-printed under-desk adapter

The $11 Neetto silicone headphone hanger (https://amzn.to/3bwZLXL) is the only mountable headphone hanger I’ve found to be large and soft enough to hold headphones without leaving compression marks (headphones with soft leather bands are vulnerable to damage from hard headphone hangers).

Unfortunately, the Neetto is side mount only (for walls or the side of a thick desk), so I designed and 3D-printed an adapter for mounting it under a desk. The print is just small enough for a Toybox to print. I’m very impressed by the print quality from that little device!

I used 3M VHB mounting tape to attach the adapter to the headphone mount. The interface is about 2″ wide, and two strips of 0.94″ tape fit perfectly. I also used this tape to attach the mount to the underside of my desk. I love this tape, as it is strong, but can be removed cleanly. If you aren’t getting good results with your mounting tape, it’s probably related to poor application technique. You need to clean the surface, apply plenty of pressure, and wait for the adhesive to cure.

If you want to learn more about how to apply tape properly, here are some application tips that go beyond what 99% of people will do.

Other headphone hangers:

For VR headsets, I use the Yocice under-desk headphone hanger, which is more rigid, and still has a protective silicone top. The headband in VR headsets doesn’t need to be particularly protected, but the hanger can also be used for headphones.

The Anchor (original) dual hanger is also nice, and won’t scratch headphones. It’s not meant for very heavy devices, which will drag one side or the other down.

The Anchor Pro looks to be larger and stronger, but is made of a harder material. I like these dual hanger designs because a VR headset can be hung on one side, with controllers hung on the other. I find them to work well for mobile VR headsets, but for larger headsets like Rifts, I prefer to hang controllers separately.

This dual hanging mount is super compact, and looks the cleanest. It is best suited for headphones / headsets with narrow bands. As with all dual-headphone hangers, the two sides are very close together, so two hanging things will likely rest against each other. The top is bare metal.
