First attempt to stream live footage from a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter while it is in the air. It worked!
Equipment used:
- DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter w/integrated camera and gimbal
- iPhone 5s
- iPad for Verizon LTE hotspot (any LTE hotspot would have worked)
- MacBook Pro (any computer with a USB port and network connection would have worked)
- Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter, to get HDMI video signal out of iPhone 5s
- 6-foot HDMI cable (thin and flexible)
- FEBON168 UVC USB HDMI grabber card (720p version) – converts any HDMI signal to a UVC camera signal on your computer, which Google Hangouts will successfully see.
Note that the iOS Vision app shown in the video is beta, and is still missing some features.
Update: I made a mistake in assuming that waypoint overlay numbers are altitude. In fact, the waypoint overlay numbers in this early version actually show distance from aircraft to that waypoint.
