DJI SDK for Phantom (and Pix4D example)
ArticlesOne of the things we announced last week at the Inspire 1 launch event was the DJI SDK for Phantom. This has been remarkably under-represented in media coverage, and represents a huge step for DJI. Suddenly, the off-the-shelf Phantom 2 Vision and Vision+ can be appropriated for use in specific vertical industries merely by running apps developed by enterprising individuals or companies. One of DJI’s first SDK partners is Pix4D, who have developed the Pix4Dmapper app for DJI. This is available now as a free beta for Android, and will remain free for mapping (but not for export, which requires an active license).
Here’s an example of a chalet that was mapped with a Phantom 2 Vision+:

It is pretty cool that you can automatically generate maps like that with an off-the-shelf product.
