DJI Innovations, the maker of the popular Phantom quadcopter, has been unable to ship product to its dealer network as of January 22, 2014, because Colin Guinn (of Dajiang North America, who was frequently and erroneously referred to as “CEO of DJI”) has filed and won a temporary injunction against the company.

31 dealers that Colin and Dajiang NA claim were exclusively developed by them are being prevented from receiving additional products from DJI, but they can continue to sell any existing stock they already have. Presumably, companies outside of the 31 named, who have a distribution deal directly with DJI, will be able to continue receiving shipments.

DJI’s direct-sales online store has recently gone online. At the moment, when you login to http://store.dji.com/, you are presented only with the option to purchase the Phantom 2 Vision, but I fully expect the store to become populated with the entire product line, soon.

It’s too bad it’s come to this. The 31 dealers, and customers, all lose.
