Barry Blanchard invited me to hang out at Google HQ today with the some of the folks from the Google+ / photos team (most of whom I already knew from other angles—it is a small world here in the valley). Along with a huge DJI S800 EVO hexacopter, Barry brought with him a DJI Phantom Vision prototype, which drew a crowd of Googlers in the main atrium.
The new Phantom Vision will feature a larger battery compartment, larger props, a built-in stills and video camera that can pitch up and down, and iOS and Android apps that work with a wireless /W-Fi repeater to allow live view from the camera. The long flight time is going to be a huge plus, and is what I am most excited about (although I’d most likely be looking for a version that doesn’t have the built-in camera—I need a gimbal).
