hehe. your rating of houston's airport as "a piece of work" is too kind. :) and i feel ya on not having carts! or having gimpy ones!

the sea lion with the hook in its mouth - how sad. it really looks like it's in pain ... looks like it has been crying, judging by the amount of eye-boogers ...

Good stuff, as always. Love the frigate-booby battle shots. :)

Nice pics Eric! I'm planning to go in november. What's your favorite lens for this trip? (35mm full frame)

-- posted by José Angel Fernández @ Wednesday, June 16 2004, 11:56 pm

jose - please check the photo page. i write a bit about the lenses I used on the trip.

i tend to shoot with the 16-35 to make sure i've nailed a shot, and then with either the 20 or 15 fish-eye after that. :)

Hey Eric!

Great photo essay on your recent trip to Galapagos. I am waiting for a d70 housing and I think you used this camera for some of your photos. Any advice on setting this camera up?!

Thanks!

Hello, the trip looks like you had terrific action with Whale Sharks. We sent two of our Silent Diving Systems rebreather divers and they had a great time. We are running two trips in 2005 and would like to invite you all and get you diving Inspirations and Evolutions so your bottom Time and marine life encounters become priceless life long experiences. Our rebreathers make you a citizen of the sea. Hope to see you all joining the Silent Diver Society.

Wow, good stuff! Some fantastic diving. I think I'll actually get to dive this fall in La Paz, Baja after being dry over 2 years. It amazes me how much alike La Paz is underwater to the Galapagos (except for a few endemics). I've yet to see a whale shark there however, although they are not uncommon. But the common fish and the bottom look alot alike. Most of your underwater pics I might guess were taken in Baja if I did not know better.

Great job Eric! The photos are fantasic as always. I'm curious with all the luggage restrictions how the Inspiration divers were able to get their rebreathers, sorb, camera gear and clothes in just two bags? I guess clothes are optional ;-)

Bill Adams (one of the two Silent Divers) is our scuba Guru here at Virginia Scuba. Your photos are fantastic! Thanks for sharing them.

I spent a week diving with John Boll on the Nekton Rorqual. He told me about how wonderful the Galopagos were. It looks like this latest trip was really incredible.

Your site is outstanding as are your photographs. I do a lot of underwater photography, but unfortunately I am not yet in your league.

I am trying to convince some of my club members that it would be worth spending a few more $ to do a Galopagos trip.

A bunch of people (including me) checked three bags in and sucked up for $100/bag fee each way. On the way back from Ecuador the check-in agent may make a fuss about not being able to check in more than two bags due to some embargo claim, but push politely and they will do it. :)

Eric your review of our trip is more than awesome...to no surprise. It was such a delight to meet and dive with you on this great trip to the Galapagos. My extension to the Ecuadorian Amazonia with Sacha Jungle Lodge on Rio Napo out of Coca was a wonderful experience….something you might consider adding on to your return visits. I would love to have seen these jungle critters through your lens…..I did OK but you most certainly would have captured the excitement of the jungle as you do so well with all your trip reviews. I am looking forward to our return bookings in July and October of 2005 on Deep Blue…and perhaps another opportunity to dive and travel with you. Until then, your website is on my desktop for regular review and virtual journeys with you through your camera and great colorful accounts of your trips. Keep me posted on your concert tours/performances as well. I would love to come to the city to hear you play....Carol

My friend Dave Haas (dhaas@megsinet.net) has written me to let me know that there are still spots available on his Oct 11-18, 2004 charter. Give him a holler if you are interested in seeing some whale sharks! :)

Dear Eric,

You'll surely recognize my name. Your website is exceptionally nice. Am passing it on to some friends in England.

Eric,

Thanks for a great site! I only visited the Galapagos 2004, Deep Blue. I'm booked on it early October with my son. I appreciated the photo & luggage tips. I just have an u/w video housing, with Sony DV-1 camera & 50/100 w video lites. Ken says I don't need to bring the video lites; and that they'll scare away the sharks. What do you think?

Hi Eric,

Really enjoying your website. Booking a trip on the Deep Blue for August 2005 with Ken. Six of us going. Any other tips your could give us to prepare for the trip would be greatly appreciated. Currents got me a little nervous although I have dived Cozumel and Blue Corner in Palua. Will definitely visit that crab restaurant in Quaquil!

Hi Eric, We met Nov.'03 on Deep Blue (marinelife sculptor). Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos. Being a former photographer and marine biologist, you do an excellent job in capturing marinelife in stills! I appreciate your talent and generosity.

Eric, absolutely great trip report. Interestingly, I will be on Deep Blue in Sept 2005 with Scott who was on your trip. Scott owns the local dive shop where I took my OW course. Your report really excites me and your pictures are fantastic. I recently received my Scuba Core DVD and watched your interview. I thought that the interveiw was excellent and your pictures were incredible.

It would be a pleasure to dive with you some day. Keep up the excellent work.

Hi Eric, lovely website and fantastic photos. You have encouraged a group of us to book a trip on DeepBlue in 2007. We can't wait.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

I looked at your website after I booked on 'Deep Blue'. It was good to get your reviews & opinions, and of course photos of the places we dove. What a fabulous time! You saw a whale shark and we didn't! Oh well, the hammerheads were there, as well as other sharks and tons of fish. Loved it. Mahalo, Sandra, Maui, Hawaii
