Posted at 12:58 AM PST: "Bowling, Finger"
What a bizarre evening. I picked up Geoff and Livia and drove to Presidio Bowl to meet up with the three tenors (Paul, Jay, and Toby) + company, but the wait was so long that we relocated to the bowling alley at Yerba Buena, in SOMA. The guy there was a complete ass, and we bowled our 60-minute allotment until we were cut off half-way through our second game.

We then proceeded to drive and walk around SOMA for a bit until an executive decision was made to meet at "The Cafe," in the Castro. Livia, Geoff, and I ended up going first to the wrong "Cafe" and paying $6 in cover apiece, to witness a spectacle beyond any non-Japanese person's comprehension (most of the clientele were Japanese, and they seemed to know what was going on). There was a band "playing" something we thought was supposed to be music; their banner showed a toothed vagina with a finger on either side of it, with "Finger" written off to the side. They had toys (guns and other electronic noise-makers) hooked up to their amplifiers, and were doing bizarre things on stage while one of them "played" the guitar and another banged on trashcans with random objects. We sat at a table and waited for the others (who never came, because we were in the wrong place), trying to figure out how the band was supposed to make us feel. Highly bizarre.

Hey, Carol - I got them from SOMA sofa, in SF. :)
I wanted to ask after seeing your halloween post - where did you get those swanky, kick-ass purple and red couches of yours (if you don't mind me asking)? Surely those couldn't have come from ikea!
