Posted at 12:36 PM PST: "Seadragons"
Photos have been recovered. Leafy and Weedy Seadragons are some of my favorite ocean critters. Hmm. I'm trying to think of more to say, but nothing is coming out. Sorry about the different photo templates. My big machine is lying unplugged in Tony's Queens living room, while I am still in Manhattan. I'll try to remember to fix it next week when we are reunited.Holy megabytes! In May 2002 alone, echeng.com moved 7.99GB of data. It's well under my 30GB limit, but it's still a lot of content. And, the #1 search term was "pooping" -- no doubt referring to this page. I'd like to think that people are finding me for the other content on the site, but... *sigh* :)

Frog and Snake. They were *almost* touching each other a few minutes before I snapped this photo, but I had to wait for a mother and her six screaming kids to stop fussing before I could get close enough to the window. grrr... |

The first time I saw seadragons was in the Boston Aquarium--they were part of a traveling exhibit from Australia. I could have gazed at their ethereal beauty for hours... Great pictures!
eric! i took fotos of the same or similar critter at the scripps aquarium. but they didn't come out as well so i never posted them. aren't they fantastical! i love sea horsey thingys. =D
hey eric, the snake and frog photo is amazing. there are some really cool leafy seadragons at the monterey aquarium (i'm sure you've seen them) tomorrow i head to ATL to meet wendy!
hey, could we have more pictures of poop?
Here's another page with some photos. Google does wonders. :) http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/students/focus/seadrag.htm
They're from southern australia, and are very close relatives to seahorses (with males brooding the eggs). I found some more information here, if you're interested: http://www.dragonsearch.asn.au/ As for clear photos -- I actually thought these were sort of blurry. I was hand-holding, and don't have the benefit of using a 1D, like Adam does. heh... :) You need a tripod in these conditions to get really sharp photos. I feel sorry for all the people around me taking flash photos of aquariums (sort of like people standing on skyscrapers taking flash photos of the skyline at night). They're going to get a dark photo with a big-ass white spot in the middle. No fishies for their memories.
Hey, how the heck do you take photos through the glass like that?? :) They're so clear.
The Seadragons are beautiful, they look like a close relative of seahorses. Where are they from? Cool picture of the Emerald Tree Boa and the frog too.
wow! i don't recall ever seeing critters like these. they're awesome!
