3D stereoscopic video camera, with grip

There is no good way to hold two cameras attached to each other, so I had to come up with another way. Here are some photos of two Sony CX550V camcorders set up for 3D stereoscopic imaging, mounted on Really Right Stuff hardware and an Opteka X-Grip.

    what is the device that take the video output from the two cameras and convert them to one signal that goes to the monitor

    I'm using a computer for that, although my underwater housing has a LCD with a toggle so I can see left and right camera views (although not muxed into 3D).

    Software is a complicated issue. I will eventually post results from this setup, at which time I will talk about software… but there is a lot out there on the web already. A simple search will yield interesting and useful information about 3D software.
