Paypal is the vehicle for scams on Craigslist

:: Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 @ 12:52:33 pm

:: Tags: ,

I’d like to state first that I use and rely on Paypal for many different kinds of transactions. Used between people I know (who have existing, stable accounts) and through eBay, it has been a convenient and consistently-useful tool.

However, I just sold two cameras and a Blackberry using Craigslist, and the experience was a bad one. For every solid lead, I received at least ten emails from scammers who wanted me to mail the phone / cameras overseas, often including large sums of additional payment for shipping. All of them offered to pay via Paypal.

I’ve heard of people scamming Craigslist sellers by using Paypal to initiate payment, and then canceling or disputing the payment once the item has been shipped off to West Africa somewhere. The emails persist even though my Craigslist posts state very clearly:

CASH / LOCAL SALE ONLY.

One annoying thing is that the scammers often start by writing a single email — e.g. “Is the item still for sale?” After a response or three, they then state that they are actually buying it for their brother / aunt / co-worker, and that they are out of town, and that they’d like me to mail it to Nigeria. As a general rule, if there is a complicated story behind the reason for the purchase, it is probably a scam.

I’ve started to ignore those sorts of emails, along with emails exhibiting poor grammar or a total lack of respect. The fragmented OMG / LOL / no-punctuation emails are from the younger generation; I tried responding to one of them, and they guy wanted to come pick up the phone at midnight (with 5 minutes of notice).

Now, I just delete responses when they are even a little bit strange. The sad thing is that some legitimate responses get filtered out, but if it’s hard to tell, I probably won’t want to meet those folks in person, anyway.

If I feel like putting a [sic] after what I’ve just read, I hit delete.

OK, now for the fun part: examples!

Also to note, they ask to ship by EMS because unlike other methods which allow you to stop delivery of a package, EMS does not.

Sadly, bad punctuation and grammar seems par for the course these days. I work for a company where I’m one of the only ones who can write a paragraph without errors. I consider myself below-average compared to people I went to school with, but most emails I get from co-workers have at least one serious error. There/their, all caps, no caps, on and on…

Plus, that’s how Blackberry guys communicate. One line, no punctuation or capitals… ;)

  • http://echeng.com echeng

I type in abbreviated form, but I set up auto-text to automatically expand “u” to “you”, “cu” to “see you”, etc. The fact that the iPhone doesn’t have configurable auto-text makes typing on it a lot slower for me.

In any case, I doubt that deleting any email with the so-called word, “u”, in it would remove anything you’d want to otherwise read. :)

  • Rogier

I only sell on Ebay however I learned a big lesson earlier this year when I sold my Mac Pro.

Only complete the transaction from the invoice send to the bidder from the auction. Wait until you have received the money. Only YOU arrange transport don’t ever have the buyer arrange shipping! Only ship to the confirmed address with at least a 2-3 day shipping Never overnight! Wait 24 hours after receiving the money in Paypal before actually dropping the unit at the shipping agency. Of course use tracking and all the other safety features provided by the shipping company.

Contact me if you want the hear the full story..

  • Ben

Yup, see this often when selling on craigslist. My favorite is the “Hi I’m interested in your item, please let me know what the price is so I can pay for it.” type of email. Um, hello, the price is ON THE LISTING!!! I can’t believe people actually fall for these things. And you know someone has to be, otherwise it wouldn’t be worth these idiots’ time to keep trying.

  • abctriplts

Yep, similar case right now. Three people want me to send them an ipod to their sons over in West Africa. It’d be less suspicious if all the scammers weren’t fighting over each other for my attention with similar stories. Seems that if I send my paypal info, they’d send a fake confirmation of payment….

  • John

I got the same problem. 2 people from different countries wanting me to ship my stuff to their son at west africa. I was about to do it too, but after a little researching.. not going to happen.

  • shaqdman

Got one just this morning – I didn't notice until the third email if I'm honest.

For everyone's benefit my exchange was as follows:

    From:

    To: xxx@xxx.co.uk

Is the car available, what is final the prices

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick response i really do appreciate it,i will like to know the present condition of this car and what is your final asking price?, please,do get back to me soon so we can discuss business.

    From:
    xxx <xxx@xxx.co.uk>

    To: Rodney James <james_rodney101@yahoo.com>

    Dear Rodney

The car is in very good condition – the engine is doing great, the mileage is very low for its age (69800) – has been primarily used for getting me to work (locally) and the weekly shopping.
As far as my limited knowledge goes the technical aspects are fine (no warning lights or anything) – it has been recently serviced and passed it's MOT.

    * POINTS TO CONSIDER *

The car has minor body work faults as can be seem in the attached images – these can be easily repaired.

Unfortunately my bottom price is £1600 at the moments – I may come down to £1500 if you take it this weekend.

    Hope that helps –

    Kind Regards

Thanks for the prompt response.. i am willing to proceed with the transaction now, i am buying the vehicle as a birthday gift for my son and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the vehicle to be a surprise gift for my son so i wont let him know anything about the vehicle until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the vehicle. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal account name, email address and your final asking price so i know how much i am transferring in order for me to proceed with the payment or you could just login to your paypal account if you already have one and use the request money button at the top of your paypal account home page and send the payment money request invoice to my paypal account which is rodneyphilips101@yahoo.com so that i can send payment to your account asap for the vehicle and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to http://www.paypal.co.uk and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the name on the paypal account and e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to get the money transfer into your paypal account or you could just use the request money button at the top of your paypal account home page and send the payment money request invoice to my paypal account which is rodneyphilips101@yahoo.com so that i can send payment to your account asap. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments…

I will also appreciate it if you could email me some pictures of the vehicle.
You can ring me on +447024079780 if i am chanced to receive your call, i will do.
    Thanks

    HE'S A MARINE?! LOL!

Suffice to say I gave up at this point and added him to my block list (not that this helps much as they now have my email address…)

Be careful guys and happy selling

thanks for the example. I have noticed that the English is always incorrect!

  • shaqdman

    No problem

English is always incorrect… and they almost always have English names!

  • Jen

I got this EXACT email yesterday for a car I had on Craigs List, except the reply was from a Moss Franks and he was buying is for his “in-law”.

  • James N

thanks alot. i just got one of these scams and even got a “paypal” verification notice. Funny thing was the fact that it wasn't even sent from the usual “service@paypal.com” but some other “.net” email address. Now I know. Thanks. The whole thing seemed far too awkward to begin with, but I'm glad to know it didn't commit too quickly.

  • Waqar

I have received almost exactly the same email for a camera that I have listed on Craigslist. What puzzles me is that the first thing I did was to call pay Pal to ask them if it is safe and they said it is. Can somebody help me understand, if I don't ship anything until I am able to check my Pay Pal account and see the money there, then how is unsafe?

  • http://echeng.com/ Eric Cheng

I would still be careful. The sender can often file a complaint to Paypal and have the funds reversed. Better to be safe and get cash for you car.

  • Okcountrygirl18

Sadly, my husband and I almost got scammed. We responded to all the emails and was ready to move forward but felt that something wasn't right when we got a text message at 3am from this woman wanting us to verify the paypal and give her the number. My husband left the room after so long because she refused to leave us alone. He told her that I am the one who does all the computer work and she actually wanted him to wake me up. Once we figured out what was going on we told her to stop and she threatened us by saying how dare we speak to her like that and she will report us to the FBI, Craigslist, and PayPal. I decided to look up some scams and came across this website where I found an almost identical story to the one she gave us. Unbelievable. She wanted us to go to western union and everything. We were not about to send $1000 so her “mover” can come get the camper.

Thanks For Getting back to me ..I am buying this item for my brother in-law as a Birthday Gift and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. payment.

I just got word from paypal that many times they don't even put the money in it. They don't even have a paypal account.

  • Plapier

This is the response I sent to one of my emailers:

All of you, and please pass this on to your colleagues, are a disgrace to your nation and your people. There are good, hardworking Nigerians and filth like you degrades your entire nation. You should be ashamed.

  • Pat / Bonny Doon

There must be people out there who fall for this scam. I just listed a dining table w/8 chairs, a very heavy set that I am willing to deliver w/i 50 miles of where I live (Santa Cruz, CA) and I get this kind of response:

Thanks For Getting back to me ..I am buying this furniture for my brother in-law as i promised him early of this year and i am a military presently on a mission, and due to ethics of this mission, phone calls, and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert.I really want it to be a surprise for my brother in-law so i wont let him know anything about it until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with it.i don’t have access to my bank account online as i don’t have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it,I don’t mind paying additional $50 for it in order for you to take the ad down from craigslist and also to be assured that it is already mine.i will need you to give me your pa paypal email address so i can make the payments asap for the item and pls if you don’t have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to http://www.paypal.com and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you used for the registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I just got this exact email this morning for a car I listed on craigslist, from a Pale Sands who was buying it for a client but was out to sea….

  • Patrick

I just had the same thing, nearly exact same thing. Although this guy is an ‘oceanographer’ HA. I went with it a bit, but it’s the the same template email , but edited a little. Seeing the email chain helped me, so I am posting mine.

You saved me a big headache, I’m never dealing with Oceanographers again! HA. For a few days even, I thought to myself – what does an oceanographer do anyway…

Thank you all – email chain for reference below:

The only time that is not good for us is from 10 am – 12 am tomorrow.

Let me know if you’d like to come by then, or give me a call to setup another time

    All the best,

    Patrick

Hello My name Is Kenny, i will love to make an instant purchase have seen the picture and am okey with it the price , please do withdraw the advert from the site.I don’t mind adding an extra 50 dollars for you to take the advert down from the site so that i can be rest assured that am in hand of the item , I really appreciate it, i am an oceanographer and, i am on sea at the moment, i am buying the it for my dad , i want to make it a surprise for him,he wont know anything about it until its delivered to him, i can only pay through paypal or i can ask my friend to send you a cashier check as i dont have access to my bank account online as i dont have internet banking, but i have my bank account attached to my paypal account and this is why i insisted on paying you through paypal or cashier check also paypal is the best way to do business online if you dont have one you can check online http://www.paypal.com to set up account. Kindly get back to me with your paypal details and your last asking price so, we can proceed with the payment and after the payment has been credited to your account.i will get a mover to come down and pick… I will be looking forward hearing back from you.. Greeting

    Hello Kenny,

I appreciate your interest in the table, chairs, and hutch. In all honesty, the process seems a little unusual to me – I hope that you understand.

I would prefer to work with your friend on this and have him deliver a cerfied check , or something of the sort. What paypal information would you need if we were to go with the online transaction?

When can you arrange for pickup? This weekend?

Considering the next steps, I would be happy to take the advert down – however before doing so , I’m interested in hearing your response.

My final asking price will be 1800 – it’s a great set of furniture, I hope we can work this out.

    All the best,

    Patrck

Thank Am Ok with the price $1,800.00 i will make the payment in to your paypal accountas soon as i here back from you. there is a little problem with the shipping agent, I am currently on sea and i am buying the it for my dad as i explained earlier on and i tried to book pick up with my pick up agent, but they asked me to pay first before they can make the booking, and they only accept western union money transfer for payments and they dont accept paypal or bank transfer and I tried to send the money online but i couldnt, i’m tired now, i dont know what to do.. I am on sea and there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to my pick up agent. I will like to know if, its ok for me to include my pick up agent’s fees in the payments I’m about to send to you through paypal, my pick up agent charged $600 plus insurance and all ‘o that, after i have made the payments you will help me forward the $600 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, this I would have done myself and not bother you but, for the fact that I am currently on sea, it will be difficult for me and i will like the whole transaction to be done as soon as possible and i can be the next owner. I only seeking your consent before going ahead with the payments. I will so much happy to hearing back from you soonest and i can go on with the payment without any delay. Please email me as soon as posible Thank you

THEN AGAIN 2 MINUTES LATER: Am ok with the price am not on here to play games ok, i will make the payment as soon as you provide me with your paypal account email i only need your paypal account email to proceed with payment as for pick up i will get a mover that will be coming to pick up as soon as you have the full payment please email me as soon as you have the paypal info.. or u can email me your name and address where u want me to mail the checks to

    ====

    Then I found this website.

    Thank you.

  • Gvccali

I received the same exact email message today regarding 2 different pieces of furniture that i have up for sale on craigslist. They told me that they were out of the country working for the military, but that they would have an agent pick up the furniture. They also agreed to paying an additional $50 if I took down the Craigslist posting. Very strange that someone would want to buy furniture without having seen it in person! As Eric Cheng mentioned, i’ve used paypal many times before and before encountering this blog woud’ve said that i trusted paypal. I did respond to 1 of the emails and gave him my email address tied to my paypal account. I thought to myself, “where’s the harm in that?” I checked my account all day and no money had been transferred. I’m so glad i read this before i went through with the exchange/pick up. In the end they probably would have picked up the furniture and later retracted the payment somehow. Everyone BEWARE!

    Thank you!

We got this EXACT message in response to an ad we put out for disability furniture.

Why not just send Daddy over with the cash then? I really have lost faith in people. Why do people just have to mess with you?

These are all so true. I wanna slap the living shit outta these low life scammers.

  • Radhika

I’m glad I googled PayPal Scams and got to read this because my very first email was “Is the item still for sale?”  Just like you said above.  And I thought it was a little weird that they didn’t want to view the item in person.  She offered to pay for shipping and handling, and she said that her shipping company will figure out the cost.  Unfortunately, I already gave them my address before I realized this was a scam…hope nothing goes wrong!

  • Who

I received long emails today wanting me to wire money to an agent who would pick it up after I was paid by paypal the full asking price plus an extra $1000 to pay the agent….It also started with thanks for the reply, but I never replied to this person before because i didn’t get the first email which appears at the bottom of each email. Hello,

Thanks for the reply,i am interested in the purchase of the Vehicle and am buying it for my uncle, whom i promised a Vehicle but i want it to be a surprise package so i wont let him know about it until it has been delivered to him,i would have come to your location for the viewing but presently i am posted to Japan with the American Red Cross Responding to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami,I would be responsible for the delivery of the Vehicle to him ,i do have a pick up agent that will pickup the Vehicle and deliver it to him after payment has been settled and i will be responsible for delivery and insurance expenses of the Vehicle …Please i would like you to answer some few questions as below and get back to me with your paypal email so i can make the payment effectively if you don’t have a paypal account just a click to get one and it is the the most secure means of receiving money securely online http://www.paypal.com do get back to me as soon as possible so i can proceed with payment…..

Are you the first owner of the Vehicle??? Does the Vehicle have any mechanical disabilities presently? What is your reason for selling this Vehicle? I am offering you the asking price Do get back to me with your PayPal email so i can make the payment.

i was just about to make the payment when i had this little problem with the picking up,I got an email from my agent..i thought i included that in my previous email.he said he won’t come and pick up the item unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time ,and my pick up agent head quarters is in the United Kingdom and all commission payments made for pick up, from anywhere in the world is sent to their head quarters in the Uk and the only form of payments they accept is western union money transfer and i tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn’t bring along, and there is no post office(there is usually a westernunion section in most post offices) or any western union agent offshore! so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will include the $1000 they charged to pick it up and take it my home(1st class treatment), to the payments i will send through paypal. After i have made the payments and it has been confirmed by paypal, i will need you to help me send the $1000 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, the western union money transfer can be made at a post office near to you, there is always a western union agent in most post offices or online at http://www.westernunion.com .I will be making the payments shortly and will email you as soon as it has been done..I just want to inform you that i have just completed the payment and i hope you must have been notified in your email about the payment i made through PayPal, you can check your e-mail for confirmation of payment, I have just make the payment of $6,700.,i have decided to add the amount of $1000 which i paid through paypal, will like you to help me wire the sum of $1000 to my agent via western union so he can be able to come for the pick up and also paypal said they won’t release the funds until they get the western union information from you due to the fact that i emailed them about the excess payment i made.i will need you to send the $1000 to my pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be done from the post office,or online at (www.westernunion.com) as they usually have a western union agent there) Here is my pick up agent Headquarter info needed to get the money sent through western union money transfer and i also add $100 as the western union fees

Name:Dennis Mark Address:222 North End Road West Kensington W14 9SN London United Kingdom.

Please kindly email the necessary details to paypal :the mtcn which you will be given at the western union after the $1000 has been sent as well as the sender’s name and address used to send the money through western union,so i can forward it to them .

Same deal, I received an email reply to an ad I have on Craig’s list. Simple email ” I want to buy it” so I replied asking for their phone number, I further explained I had an unlimited long distance plan and didn’t mind making the call.  The next email I received the individual claimed he wanted to purchase the truck for his brother-in-law’s birthday. I was further instructed to open a paypal account and that he would send an agent to pick up the truck. He further claimed to be a ship’s engineer and had limited access to the internet etc. and couldn’t come pick it up himself.

Of course I refused to open a paypal account, (already have one), I went on to instruct him to send the money to his agent and have him bring cash when he comes to pick up the truck.    Care to make a wager that I do not hear from him again or see his agent.

This is a simple rule  to live by. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Remember cash is king.

I wish I had seen this post sooner.  Fortunately, I did not lose money, but I have the hassle of numerous threatening e-mails from “paypal”, but when I open the e-mail, the letterhead is “FBI”….  What they wanted me to do was wire the shipping cost, before the money from Paypal is made available to me.  When I explained to the “buyer” that I did not have $700 available to me, the threatening letters began.  It’s really frustrating.  All I want to do is sell a car, and the only responses I seem to get are scam artists…..Ugh!

  • stop all scammers!

haha… two different emails i got today… do they look similar?

    email 1:

From: Susan Burkey burkeysusan@yahoo.co.ukSent: Friday, 19 August 2011, 13:22Thanks for your time.I’m buying it for my Daughter that just got an admission abroad and being her first time of relocating outside Australia and just to wish her good luck with school.I will only be making payment via paypal safest online payment(pls visit www.paypal.com) as have been burnt many times via online bank transfer/payment and for the convenience of both parties i have organized with  someone to come pick it up as soon as we’re through with payment.I want you to know that i would have come with cash in hand myself and do the necessary things before concluding on payment but i’m not in the country right now due to work commitments, we save peoples life as i’m a public health worker with which we get transferred to a whole lot of places at anytime. So let me know your exact final selling price and email me your paypal email address so that i can transfer the funds at my earliest convenience

I understand PayPal has a  3.9% PayPal charges will be including as well.

Thanks so much for your post.  It has helped us. We believe we were just trying to be scammed, the scenario is very similar to what you just said and has confirmed our suspicions. We have stopped any further communication with the individual and will do as you have and only deal with cash payments.

  • Webxpress

Geesh…I thought an immediate response to our ad on Craig’s List (to sell a bike) seemed questionable. Am glad I turned up your info after a search on Google for “paypal scams craigslist.” Thanks.

  • Gini

iIn all these posts, I dont see where anyone actually agreed to the Paypal payment, shipped the item, and got the money taken back by Paypal.  Would they take it back? That is the question.

  • Br06an

Same person: Here is my email from Loveth the Oceanographer.

LOL I am laughing because the marine engineer from 1 year ago is still going with the same message – I got one today – exactly the same poor wording from my post on CL.  What a waste of 10 minutes of my time replying to his ad – I thought I might sell something

  • Cindy

I just experienced this as well. Thanks for this post. They actually send me a fake paypal confirmation. When i looked at who it was from it said service@epayipal.com. I immediately sent it to spoof@paypal.com. This guy was pushy, wanted to pay $100 extra, and asked me to send my camera to nigeria.

  • Lblackwell

Fantastic article, and thank you for writing about the Craigslist Paypal scam.  I am trying to sell a dining room set on Craigslist, you would not believe how many attempts were made to pay by paypal and ship it somewhere.  Thank you again for writing about your experience.

  • Xkriso5x

Sucker punched 123 Retarded Lane Asshole, New York

Yeah right go find another sucker, Sucker!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Fuck off.- Show quoted text -These guys need to get a LIFE. Seriously???? Like I’m going to fall for that?!!? What an idiot!!

  • :)

Thanks dude! Totally just confirmed my suspicions. Apparently, they issue you a charge back after receiving the item. So, they keep the cash and the item. Boo.

  • Adjibo2008

I don’t know how long is going to take people to realize about these nigerians scams. Please, use common sense when doing business.

  • Cooper_Nikkus

    oooh, you had a 1D mkIII….drool…

  • Kristy

Wow, am I glad I checked this one last time before I did something stupid.  This guy said he was a petroleum engineer and used all the same terminology about it being a gift. And yes, he wanted me to send $400 via Western Union to his pick up agent before the paypal payment could be received.

  • Kristy

Oh and I should include his name. John Clark Baker.  Watch out for this guy!  He is really persistent in trying to get you to go to Western Union and send money.  NEVER do this, it is always a scam.

  • Yomi

For me the guy said he wanted to buy it for his cousin and than slipped up and called him his sister. I almost did fall for it until I saw Nigeria. There was no way in heck I was trusting someone that far. And as other people have said before they do ask for Express Mail Service. And they WILL send a fake email from Paypal stating that the payment has been received but when you log into your paypal account you will see no history of it and the Transaction ID won’t even make sense. Just saying don’t trust emails and always check your paypal account yourself first, this aside from NIGERIA is what tipped me off.

  • BestBikerMom

I just received an email wanting to buy my motorcycle (sight unseen) that I have advertized on Craigslist through paypal-of course the peron is overseas  with the American Red Cross responding to the same thing as above–something just didn’t quite sound right & the exact questions were used in their email to me (was I the only owner, does it have any mechanical disabilities, etc.) What sounded fishy to me to begin with was that they called my motorcycle a bicycle!!! This letter of nearly the same has made my mind up that this is another scam email. Also if they have a ‘pick up agent’ as they claim then why can’t they just send cash with the pick up agent instead of all the ways they try to get you to transfer money?

  • William

this is one ive recieved and the person keeps asking for me to email him my pay pal account… scam or just a weird person???

“Thanks for your swift response, I’m seriously interested in buying this for my Father, your asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I’ve seen lately, I’ll take it. I would have loved to come check it out my self but am currently in camp as military seer instructor for new recruits. I won’t be able to leave the base until 22th of DEC. I however squeezed out time to check this posting as all personal dealings are highly restricted here, i really want this as a surprise gift for my Father so i won’t let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him and due to the fact that phone calls making are restricted……i will be paying you with my PayPal account because it’s attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal email address,(Paypal ID) so i can pay in right away. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. I’ll need your name, the pickup address or location  and please include your PayPal email address for the payment and send me some recent pictures if available And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. I await your reply asap”

every time i try and have a conversation or simply ask him/her a question, they respond with something like….

“okey get back to me with your paypal thank get back asap” or “send me your paypal for the payment”

  • Mike

I got one too.  Here it is:

Thanks.I always thought Pay-Pal  was very secure, and never imagined it could be used for a scam.  I’m glad I found this post.

  • Tahmeed

Hahaha!! I can’t believe that they try this even….i am sure a lot of people…were scammed too…today I posted my blackberry…and this dude..asked me whether it was there or not…I replied, yeah still there….then he replied the following….

” okay, glad it is still for sale, i will like to know the present condition of this item because am willing to get it for my friend “….and then next message he says…” son who live in New Jersey, US but has been transferred to west africa about mid week of last week, kindly find out the shipping cost to him and get back to me with the total amount including the shipment cost and also with your paypal email id so i can make the transfer.” so i caught this right away…cuz once he said it was for a frnd…now its his son? :O hahaha..so I had a lil fun with him…then I said…”so where are you now?” and he replied …. “am located in St.john’s, NF but not in the state right now okay” ….lol buddy again made himself look like an idiot to me…he said “STATE” lol in canada we say province…not STATE…N his OKAY at the end…its soo annoying..:) anyways I continued…” sorry all my frnds are asking me…not to deal on paypal….deal face to face if possible..or sell it to someone who can pay cash…well thnx for the offer tough! :)”…….now he replies…” OMG !! HOH …… I understand how you feel and what you think. I will pay for the Item and shipment including, any order charges. That’s why I want to use Paypal for the payment. Paypal is save and secure for both parties, and online fastest way to make purchase online and 100% ”  so this was his reply…coming to this part..he again fooled himself…with “SAFE” spelling mistake as “SAVE” plus the gaps in punctuations clearly tells you that these are not coming from a phone…he must be typing in some computer…with a full sized keyboard….

then I continued with him…i said “if you are from St.John’s….why don’t you send one of buddies to meet me in person…and I ll be more than happy, to help him ship it to west africa”

now he replied again…this time totally frustrated…and trying as hard as possible…but even worse grammar… “hello i understand you but am not in the state right now okay if you can help me ship the item to him am going to pay you your money. okay money is not me problem as soon as you get back to me with your paypal invoice to stony7019@gmail:disqus.com am going to do the payment okay”and I had enough of his OKAYS…now i replied…”No thnx! not interested!”

LOL guess what he replies…”okay thx no problem if you dont trust me i trust myself okay”HAHA I thought i broke his trust on himself today….and thats why he was acting like a small dick fat nigerian…lol!!

  • Tahmeed

and yeah the last line was not like I hate nigerians or I have something against them…it more like a form to describe the guys actions!! :) dint want to be offensive to anyone!! :)
