A day with Emma, the tiger shark

Emma the tiger shark and a lemon shark friend

We are currently back at West End hiding from the weather after spending the day at Tiger Beach. We had a total of five individual tiger sharks, including Emma, our #1 supermodel! Emma’s pregnant at the moment; when she swims toward us head on, her normally large head looks tiny against the bulbous backdrop of her huge belly (which often drags on the sand — funny!).

We put Jackie up in the air in the ultralight, but that turned out to be the only flight we’ll be able to make. The flying boat’s hull is leaking water. I think open ocean swells are just too much for the poor little thing.

    Gorgeous as always! I’m jealous – just spent the weekend at Casino Point with 10′ visibility both days. Sigh.
