My good friend, Cor Bosman, recently posted two videos his company produced. One is about co-location at their server facility, and the other talks about modern privacy issues (and might scare you). I’ve embedded them here.
The privacy video is in Dutch, but you can turn on captions for English subtitles. They should be on by default.
Cool, they were my very first isp in the early beginnings when we had to dial inn directly into their server in an attic somewhere in Amsterdam. Its a shame that XS4ALL later was bought by KPN loosing its free spirit mentality.
Rogier – can you elaborate on XS4ALL “losing its free spirit mentality?”
I’m told that XS4ALL still operates more or less autonomously. This is from Cor, one of the founders.
The first 5 years where was no change whatsoever as our contract with KPN made us fully autonomous. KPN themselves even prolonged that contract after those 5 years because they know that staying away from us is good for business.
We have lost some of the free spirit, but it has nothing to do with KPN. It’s because we went from 4 people in an attic to 350 people and a lot of bureaucracy. It’s inevitable with growth.
