Tupai, heart-shaped island near Bora Bora

The island of Tupai, Bora Bora

I took this photo of the island of Tupai from a helicopter on July 10, 2001. It was my first time to French Polynesia and my only time to Bora Bora. Bora Bora is the most beautiful place to which I’ve been — layers upon layers of blue, turquoise, and green than I could have imagined.

I’d love to go back to Bora Bora now that I’m a real photographer. I’d also love to bring someone there — I’m sick of hanging out in beautiful, romantic places alone or with a bunch of dudes! ;)

Hey, was that last sentence an insult aimed at us dudes you’ll be hanging out with later in the year? :)

Hey, Tony! Is a 24-hour ferry ride considered to be a beautiful, romantic venue? ;)

  • emma

from that picture, bora bora looks amazing! are there other pictures? (sorry, unfamiliar with the site so not sure where to look for other pictures of bora bora). i did check out flickr link…but only found that picture as well.

It’s 25 hours, cramped, and uncomfortable, and you’ll be with me. Life doesn’t get any better!

I’m afraid that there are no more pictures of bora bora. Anywhere. In fact, some of us think that this one is not real. It’d be just like eric to cobble together pieces from other pictures and event a tropical destination. He could have put a little more work into the name. Bora bora?!? Who’s going to believe that there is a place named that?

Actually, Eric’s the only person to visit this part of the world other than the natives living there who are naked other than the giant penis-warmers they wear made from the pelts of 150 or so field mice.

LOL… that shot looks familiar! Agree with the assessment, nothing I’ve ever seen compares to the water in FP.

I know this sounds really crazy but is this the island from one of the episodes of the bachelor? I only caught glimpses of the episode but I remeber them saying something about Tahiti (which could have been completely unrelated) and this is almost the exact view from the helicopter they were in

This was the island for The Bachelorette- Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez’s romantic date in Tahiti. Awesome, now we know the name of it. Thanks!

  • Gresel Pineda

    wow… amazing…

  • Lynn

Awesome, you shouldn’t have any problem finding someone ( besides a dude!) to re-visit this enchanting island with. Good luck:)

Hoping to do a helicopter ride there myself.  What time of day is best for great photos?

  • Steven

Tupai use to be my grand-pa’s private island until we sold it in the 90s. I miss it

  • pinno

    really awesome
