After convincing Adam Tow to support PicLens, I’ve integrated a pre-release version of his wp-smugmug plug-in, which will let me inline SmugMug galleries into journal entries. Because it’s so easy to do now, I may end up switching to SmugMug for my main journal image hosting. I’ll probably continue to mirror content on Flickr as well.
UPDATE I’m still over at Adam’s place, and convinced him to enable Lightbox support in conjunction with PicLens. It’s just about perfect now. :)
As a test, I’d like to present some of the underwater photos I have hosted over at SmugMug. Enjoy!

Hey Eric, I saw your screaming turtle picture in SF’s Japantown last weekend. The restaurant did mention your name for the photo credit. Love your pictures.

Any idea when this plugin might be released? I’d love to use this! - Jeff
Does the gallery “plug in” via a single sort of container reference to the Smugmug gallery or does it generate a bunch of references for each individual photo? That is…using this method, you are totally reliant on IPTC fields, captions, etc. for text and cannot intersperse your own into the web post, right? That is…it just replicates your Smugmug gallery with PicLens support, right?
Sooner or later I think I have to get over my anal-retentive insistence on mixing photos and text precisely the way I want to, just for the sake of speed…
Chester - you just copy the RSS feed for the Smugmug gallery into a custom field in Wordpress. Done. Captions are an option, but I have them turned off.
