Wave at Waimea Bay Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii
Shot Details: NIKON D200, 500mm/4 lens, f6.3 @ 1/800 sec, ISO 200
I have hundreds of shots like this, but here are a few that I picked out to show today. Special thanks to Norbert Wu, who invited me out here and took me to the right spot this morning. I returned in the afternoon, alone, and spent a few hours staring out into the ocean (and shooting). It was much-needed time for introspection, although I was approached and chatted up by quite a few of the friendly locals (which was also nice).

Lookout, Hokusai! Anyone wanna go for a swim?
Shot Details: Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, 400mm/5.6L lens, f6.3 @ 1/500 sec, ISO 320

This one reminds me of a monster, or something alive.
These are all images that need a CRT or big print for proper display. LCDs don’t do the subtle whites well, I don’t think.
They look amazing. I’d love to see the hi-res versions of those on my 24″ monitor. Too bad it’s an LCD. :\
