I agree that Missing Sync is pretty bad these days. I just switched BACK to my Blackberry after using the iPhone for over half a year. I couldn't be more happy to be back.

HOWEVER, Missing Sync refuses to sync my Mac calendar since upgrading to Leopard / MobileMe / etc. Luckily, I use BusySync to sync my Mac calendar to Google calendar, and use Google Sync on Blackberry to get the calendar synced up.

It is terribly circuitous, but I can't think of any other way to make it work.

Still, it is nice to be able to check and compose emails instantaneously wherever I am in the world (except for where I am now -- YAP, FM, where there AT&T International doesn't work).

Thank you for that post, I dont feel alone anymore with my syncing problems.

I would define myself as a power user with my blackberry. I try to implement the "Getting Things Done" (GTD) process, which means depending heavily in the device and having few hundreds of memos, tasks and calendar events.

For me, pocketmac was impossible to use, it would never sync properly. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance you had with missing sync for blackberry. The missing sync for blackberry is a real mess. Fortunately, there is a trial version, so I was able to use it extensively BEFORE buying it. I would not recommend this app to anybody.

Even if my blackberry is almost new (8800), I really think about breaking my contract with my service provider and buy the new iphone. iPhone and Mac would, I expect, sync flawlessly, which is of paramount importance for everybody who needs to sync frequently.

Hope this post might help,

I don't think the syncing (or lack thereof) of smart groups is necessarily a problem that can be laid at the feet of Missing Sync, I have the same problem with iSync and my Nokia 6682. The suggestion I found was to create regular groups in Address Book and periodically refresh them with the contents of the smart groups - probably something that is easily scriptable, but my contacts lists don't change often enough for me to follow up on it.
