It was teriyaki-glazed, and wasn’t all that bad..
OK, so I lied. I really did not enjoy eating the cockroach AT ALL, and it was certainly not teriyaki-flavored. I’m not sure what kind of cockroach it was, but it looked like a Madagascar hissing cockroach (Gromphadorhina portentosa). It’s not every day that you see the word “food” in the same sentence as the word “cockroach.” I am impressed that you were able to get it down–I’m pretty sure I would’ve gagged. In fact, I gagged when I saw the first picture you posted of this b/c I had a 24hr stomach bug at the time and that was a little too much for me at the moment! So did you notice anyone devouring the cockroaches/spiders/worms and talking about how delicous they were? I can’t imagine looking at them and thinking “Mmmm doesn’t that look delicous.”
huh??
[...] I felt a bit queasy about the whole affair, but I took consolation in knowing that I have friends who’ve eaten much, much worse. [...]
