I have the exact same problem. Have you found a solution? I can't find anything related or useful on the web or on blackberry.com technical support.

Geert - I stopped using Pocketmac for syncing, and the "contact has been updated externally" messages stopped.

Missing Sync is much, much better!

I have the same problem with my BB 8800. I get Java errors and "contact has been updated externally". It worked fine for weeks and now the synchro of Contact is not working anymore

Have heard the St.Lawrence before - Geoff Nuttall, right? Very fine player but the quartet as a whole sounded rather " Unbalanced" - sounded like a very strong 1st violniist with 3 string players accompanying him. Perhaps it's better now 'cause Scott St.John has joined its ranks. What makes a great quartet, well, obviously it needs a great 1st violinist- a given...but it's the inner voices/engine/motor that makes a great quartet. a strong/insightful second violinist+ a kick-ass violist( with a true dark viola sound)=
a true great quartet.

Yeah, that's what Geoff said. But I've got friends going to the concert as well. And I'm sort of here in New York to see them play!

Tough decisions.

Yeah. I guess random contact dupe and delete doesn't happen for me until I use PocketSync to sync the BB with Mac apps. :)

I sometimes get exactly the same thing in the same situation on mine.

Oh well. At least it doesn't randomly delete contacts like my old windows mobile did.
