My white shark breach on Ehrensenf

Hey, so … I can’t understand any of this, but it appears that my breaching white shark photos have made it onto German TV. The top of the webpage says “Ehrensenf, extra scharf,” and the woman looks confused when my image pops up. Can a friendly German-speaking person help translate what went on? :) [ehrensenf] [spiegel]

UPDATE: OK. You know what is REALLY weird? That story about shuttle cocks was written by my sister’s friend, Jia-Rui (a Los Angeles Times reporter). When my sister watched this video, she thought something was wrong with her computer.

OK here a short translation … note: the postcards “are from German politicians”

[...] ok what else I was swimming today – unfortunately in the sea not in money but I have posted some photos at echeng.com … huh ????? … Oh sure ;-) … HIS photos … the white halibut or what however if you think of what he is telling the EU [...]

Hi Eric! well it is not really german tv but it is a vlog like roketboom. so they had this joke from the show before where a german politican wrote a postcard and she read it. of course the guy never wrote the postcard in the 1st place. so in the next show she got a ton of cards. starts witht the one with the sheep, the politican said that the sun is shining and everything is ok. he would like to play badmington but the shuttlecocks are to expensive than she explains that they are so expensive now because of the bird flue. than he wrote further that he went for a swim unfortunate only in the sea and not in the money (he is the minister for finace in germany and we have that saying when you are rich that you swim in $$$ like dagober duck) he wrote that he posted some pictures (of himself!) at echeng.com. than she makes fun of him like well well who does belive what he said? remember what he tells the european union in the meetings. (this one goes that he swears to get the finances in order…) hope that helps? greetings from germany!

From my friend who works at the German Embassy:

Its a spoof. Sort of like a video Onion. (even the name Ehrensenf -noble mustard- is the word for television with the letters rearranged). .. What I saw, the woman was reading fake vacation postcards from german politicians. I didn’t see any diving pictures- or were they the shark photos? She makes a joke about it being from a politican who is lying to the EU. One was about the asian bird flu affecting production of badminton shuttlecocks- she tells him to start playing tennis like a real man.

    Wow. Germans are weird.

Like a bad strain of Avian flu, ECheng fame continues to spread across the globe… :)
