Cannot shift-click to select text in Firefox

A couple of weeks ago, shift-clicking to select text in Mozilla Firefox stopped working (v1.5.0.2, Thinkpad T42, Windows XP SP2). I can still hold shift down and use the arrow keys and home/end keys, and holding shift-control while using the arrow keys works as well. But throughout my browser (both textareas and normal HTML text), I can no longer click on one spot and then shift-click another to select everything between.

I need to do some more testing. Any suggestions?

UPDATE It was the AdBlock extension. It disables shift-clicking, and if you double shift-click on something when AdBlock is installed, it (the element you double-clicked on) disappears altogether. Thanks, Neal, for the reminder that Firefox has extensions. :)

Only thing I can think of is that some FF extension might have usurped the shift-click functionality normally there. Have you tried disabling all the extensions and re-launching FF to see if that fixes it?

    Beyond that, dunno sorry :/

    Glad it worked :)

Hm. I’m running adblock 0.5 d3 nightly 42 and shift-clicking works for me. Options wise, I have ‘collapse blocked objects’, ’site blocking’ and ‘keep list sorted’ enabled.

Didn’t know about the double-shift-click thing though. It freaked me out when your entry disappeared after doing that haha ;)

Hmm. I was running the same version. Maybe I should try re-enabling it.

Thank you so much for your discovery. It’s been bugging me for a week now, and disabling AdBlock fixed it. Woo hoo!!

syndromes: i can verify that adblock 0.5 d3 nightly 42 fixes the shift-click problem.
