   Cheng, I don’t know where you got your info, but I just bought a rzr v3 from Verizon, and I have not found what you say to be true. In fact, I just got off the phone from Verizon to verify. If you have something concrete let me know ASAP.

   OBJECTIVE: To Enable USB and OBEX support on CDMA Razr V3c phones that have been disabled by Verizon service provider. Enabling support allows users to upload and download their Phone Contacts, Calendar, and Messages to their computers for backups and other reasons.

   EQUIPMENT: • Fully charged Verizon RAZR V3C Phone with GATW_01.15.04 (or x.03) software version • USB A to USB mini B (5 pin) interface cable • Motorola PhoneTools v4.0x • DriverTool.zip • Motorola Product Support Tool (PST) 7.2.3 & Patch • Motorola Product Support Tool USB Driver • P2KSeem

   PROCEDURE: 1. Create a sub directory on your Windows XP computer and name it RazrHack on your C drive or other. 2. Download Motorola PhoneTools v4.0x into RazrHack sub directory. 3. Extract MPT.zip to sub directory called MPT within RazrHack. 4. Go to http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motorola/upgrade/US/ and click on the hyperlink title “Click here if you use a CDMA phone.” Or go to http://www/bvrp.com/Customers/.....erTool.zip to download the Driver Tool. 5. Save DriverTool.zip to RazrHack 6. Extract DriverTool.zip to sub directory called DriverTool within RazrHack. 7. Download Motorola Product Support Tool (PST) 7.2.3 & Patch into sub directory RazrHack 8. Extract MPST.zip to sub directory called MPST within RazrHack. 9. Download Motorola Product Support Tool USB Driver from http://www.v710.org/mark/Files.....rPack1.zip and into sub directory RazrHack. 10. Extract E815-V710-DriverPack1.zip to sub directory called PST-USB within RazrHack. 11. Download P2KSeem from http://www.v710.org/mark/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip to RazrHack. 12. Extract P2KSeem4V710.zip into sub directory called P2KSeeem4V710 within RazrHack. 13. Install Motorola PhoneTools v4.0x and run update for application updates the Internet. 14. Go to C:RazrHacksDriverTool and click on DriverTool.exe to install. 15. Install Motorola Product Support Tool (PST) 7.2.3 & Patch. 16. Go into PST-USB and read readme.txt file. 17. Determine where PST-USB files are to be copied to for C:i386 ( or C:WINDOWSi386) and Motorola Product Support Tool. 18. Connect powered down Verizon RAZR V3c phone to Windows XP computer using the USB interface cable. 19. Run Motorola Product Support Tool (PST). NOTE: Windows Add New Hardware Wizard should run, automatically search for, find and install the new driver. If not, point the wizard to the PST-USB sub directory. The phone will now be listed as “Motorola USB Modem” in Device Manager under Modems. 20. If your phone shows up in Device Manager as Motorola USB Modem, launch PST using the Phone Programmer icon off the start menu. Again, if this is your first time doing this, or you have connected the data cable to a different USB port, the Add New Hardware wizard will run. It will try to install “Communications Class - Control Interface”, “Data Logging MCU Interface”, “Test Command Interface,” and “Accessories Interface.” For all of these, choose “Install from a list or specific location…” then click next. On the following screen, to the right to the “include this location in the search” click browse… and direct C:RazrHackPST-USB for the V3C PST_USB driver. If the add new hardware wizard does NOT run, check device manager for a Motorola USB Device group with Accessories Interface, Data Logging MCU, and Test Command Interface listed. If you have them, you can proceed. If you do not, unplug your phone, power it off/on, and reconnect. These devices must be installed for P2KSeem to connect to the phone! They will only be listed in Device Manager while PST is still running so DO NOT EXIT PST! 21. PST really gives NO indication that it is connected to your phone. To verify connectivity, launch PST. 22. When the main interface appears, click File,New, Phone Book File then OK. You will be presented with Untitled Phone Book File. Use the Phone pull down, and click READ. PST should start reading the contents of your phone’s Contacts. If it finishes, PST is connected. NOTE: Be careful when doing this in PST, choosing an improper option (even for reading) can fry your phone!! 23. While PST 7.2.3 is running on your computer, run P2kSeem.exe from C:RazrHackP2KSeem4v710. 24. P2KSeem should say “connected” in the lower left corner of the application box. 25. Locate the LOAD area in the bottom right corner area. Change the Seem to 2742 and Record to 1. 26. Verify the 2 fields have the correct entries then Click “LOAD FROM PHONE” button. 27. From within the application, you will see many hex codes arranged in columns and rows. Under Selected Byte Details (lower left section) you will see OFFSET:0000 (location of cursor at load time). 28. To backup the original seem, click “save to file” and go to C:RazrHack 29. Name backup file to 2742_0001.bak and click OK to save. 30. Go down to row 000060 and column over to e3 (may be e2 on some phones) should say offset 006a. 31. Click on box for BIT 0 to put a check mark in it. This sets BIT 0 = 1 (enables USB File transfer for music/video/pictures in the Motorola phone tools software). NOTE: DO NOTE EXPERIMENT WITH OTHER BITS! 32. Click “Save to Phone.” 33. Click “Restart Phone.” 34. Close P2kSeem & PST 35. Unplug the USB cable from your phone, and then plug it back in (resets connection with the pc after programming). 36. Run Motorola Phone tools. 37. Press or go to menu/setup/general setup. 38. Click on communication tab and choose change modem. 39. Click on Next 2 times. 40. Click the box beside “Do not automatically detect…” & click next. 41. Click on Motorola CDMA, choose V3CM and Click next. 42. Click Finish and OK. Now your Motorola PhoneTools software should connect with your phone, and show you the Multimedia Studio, Contact, and Calendar options. If not, reboot your pc and reopen phone tools to connect again.

   Followed your instructions to the letter, except for 2 items. I am using a 4 wire USB cable and I am running the .02 version. I can get into seems and see that the USB bit is turned on, but when I try to connect via phone tools, it cannot connect to the phone unless I let it discover the phone on it’s own. Once I do this, there is no multimedia option.

   Verizon should be sued for this. Now I need to figure out how to flash my phone directly to the .04 version.

   Thanks for a great write-up on this procedure.

   My bad, the mini-B side of my cable is 5-wire. Still, phone tools will not give me multimedia.

   Doug - I had multimedia enabled simply by downgrading to .02. I didn’t have to do all the stuff mentioned in the comments, above…

   Thats what I was hoping for. I did not edit any seems, since the USB bit was set on. I just bought a Bluetooth adapter and it see the phone, but it cannot open a comm port to it. I’m wondering if this is a driver issue within phone tools. Going to retry swapping drivers again to make sure that I didn’t miss anything.

   Ideally, I would like to upgrade directly to .04 once I get this connected. Since going to .02, my Bluetooth headset has gotten much noisier and doesn’t connect every time.

   Got it working. Thanks for the great instructions. Now time to get it flashed at a Verizon(sucks) store.

   I read that there might be a new version of the SW out, .04p, that enables Bluetooth. Crossing my fingers.

   Now, if I could just unlock some of those stupid photos taking up space on my phone.

    You know what has been driving me crazy? Since the .04 flash, only phone numbers appear on the LCD when someone calls. It no longer looks up names in the address book. But after the call, it shows up properly by name in the call history.

    Update: bitpim 0.9.00, from http://www.bitpim.org, works with the RAZR V3c. Make sure you read the instructions for setting up the phone and using Razr V3CM as the option. http://www.bitpim.org/help/

    It worked! I was afraid I was gonna brick my phone, but no problems - now I have Dr.Dre ringtones - for free! Take that Verizon! Can you hear me now, beeyach?

    I purchased the razr soon after release, and the bluetooth has never had a problem. Huzzah for cingular!

    It works !!! Thanks for the tip, but unfortunatelly I cannot load my pics and ringtones that are in my phone already, I would like to get rid them and keep just my own pic and ringtones, I’ve looked via P2kSEEM, but I couldn’t find any option, anyway I wouldn’t change anything before hear a second option, otherwise I could kill my phone.

    You can do that with P2K commander or tools. i can’t remember witch but both are good to have if you want to do things wit your fone.
