Amazingly small world

I was on a dive boat the other day, hanging out in the middle of a bunch of rock islands in Palau, and we pulled up on a boat full of Japanese divers. There was a dude standing on the bow who looked familiar, and as we pulled up to each other, we started pointing at each other inquisitively.
Turns out it was a guy I met in Rangiroa back in April. I’m starting to see the same divers over and over again around the world, and it’s pretty weird.
Two Taiwanese divers stopped me on the dock and told me that someone had informed them that I would be in Palau in April. I’m famous in Taiwan! Er… or something like that. :)
And tonight, I was stopped in the lobby by a guy who was at our SeaSpace workshop last year. Small, small world.

Toshi, right? He was at Wakatobi when we were there. Was he in Rangiroa too or do you have your trips mixed?

Interesting! I’m pretty sure he was at Rangiroa as well, which would make it twice I’ve been diving with him.
There were two more weird connections today. A guy who bought my old wetsuit and booties showed up today and said hi, and a photographer from Oakland arrived as part of the same tour. Everyone is coming here!! :)
