I’m hosting some events at my place soon, and I was wondering: does anyone know of any computer telephony solutions that can be set to automatically answer incoming calls from a certain number and play back DTMF for ‘9′?
Sure would be handy.
I guess I could hire a door monkey.
Take a look at Asterix, an open source PBX (www.asterisk.org). I have set a couple of these up and it’s pretty cool the things you can do.
An excellent reference is voip-info.org and an exhaustive list of other PBXs can be found at voip-info.org/wiki-VOIP+PBX+and+Servers
You may need some additional hardware, as sold at Digium (for example), http://www.digium.com/index.ph.....e_products
Have fun!

what’s a door monkey?? :)
i’d like a door monkey … and like wedny i don’t know what one is .. but it sounds like a ecentric version of a butler in Morocco.
And mind my spelling there but i also haven’t slept in a while with my own techy problems which aren’t half as techy as yours but as normal i am in over my head.
I luckily am planing my return back to the Cayman islands which will instanly relax me and if you are still over drawn of energy feel free to visit eric.
ok i just googled and asked jeeves what a door monkey was … i got nothing.
I’m pretty sure that it would be a cool personal accessory. muchos cred points and many friends will come if you get a door monkey … i’m going to go buy http://www.doormonkey.com and start selling these ficticious animals that i imagine are small monkeys whom wear smart coats like a piano player and are generally found in the vacinity of a door where they perform many usefull tasks that really should not be belittled upon those of us in humanity upper echelon of beings so that we may perhaps use our time more productively ;)
just be sure not to get a capuchin monkey, like the one Craig gets in the show “Malcolm in the Middle” (s03e21) ;-)
This ‘build your own PBX page’ reminded me of this post:
