Schedule of events:
1. I send in 1Ds to have sensor cleaned, since I suck ass at cleaning it myself.
2. Camera comes back roughly a week later. Quick mode dial on back of camera no longer works.
3. I call them up and bitch. “You’ll have it before the 19th,” I’m told.
4. They send FedEx to pick it up 2 hours later
5. I get a note today saying, “Your camera will be fixed within 10 working days.”
Bastards. I need that thing for a wedding this weekend.
Dude, that sucks. If that’s the best service Canon can offer a 1Ds owner, I’d hate to see how long it would take owners of any of their other cameras to get repairs.
is sensor the same thing as the lenes?
Next time you have an impending need for your camera, you should loan it to me. That way, I can break it rather than you (or them) and be forced to buy it from you… instant camera upgrade! (and the wife cant complain!)
norm
the sensor is located behind the mirror (for an SLR) - its what actually records the image.
cool thx!
Would you like to borrow a Maxxum 5 for your photo shoot?
Some times if you ask for the “PRO Service” department, you might get better treatment. You tell them that it’s important that they pay specail attention to their professional photographers. It worked for me when my E-10 broke, and I didn’t have to pay for the fix even though it was out of warrenty.
thanks, dave. yeah, I still have to sign up for Canon Professional Services. it’s on my list. :) I was told that the 1Ds was on the priority list, along with all the other digital SLRs, but maybe they were just pulling my leg.
you really need to join CPS, to get to the top of the priority list. Also, you can get in line to borrow really big and expensive lenses!!!!!!
wahooo!!!!!!
doh! that’s unfortunate … also unfortunate is i forgot my login information =(
