Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec

Driving is fun! I went out today with Allon, Peter, and Amabelle and shot some crappy footage. It’s fun to watch, though. Allon let me drive his Skyline for about half an hour, and that thing is AMAZING. It’s the fancy modified version from MotoRex. I experimented with encoding the video using quicktime, but I couldn’t find a decent compressor, so I exported RealMedia, instead. To get the player, go to Real, and search for the tiny letters, “our free player.” It’s sort of hidden in the middle of the page. If the video streams poorly, download the video and watch it from your local machine. It’s encoded for both 56K and 256K connection speeds.

Wow! Didn’t know you can get RHD cars approved for the states.

From what I remember petrol (gasoline) was cheap in the states, but it was of a very low grade. 90RON or less. These cars are fed 100 RON petrol in Japan, and here there is 97/98 RON petrol. How do you guys feed the beast?

I thought cars were expensive here, but I here that R34 is about $85K over there in the states. Is that right?

Shopping around for a second hand R33 here and they can be had for $25-30K. Not bad for a car that can out do equivalent age Ferrari/Porsche.

Can you guys get Lancer Evo 7 and Impreza WRX Sti? They are cheaper than the R34 but can be tuned to go as fast.

    tom -

the low number you talk about is not RON (Road Octane Number) it is AKI (Anti-Knock Index) which is (RON+MON)/2.

"Premium" unleaded gas in CA is 91 AKI/"Octane" while in other parts of the country 93 is more prevalent (and for cheaper than CA gas, usually).

RON is the higher of the two, and i think for a 91 Octane/AKI you’re looking at somewhere around 96-98 RON. with the 93 AKI your probably around 100 RON.

about skylines and porches, porches are slow compared to skylines, a stock line can out accelerate out 1/4 mile one.

REAL MEDIA ! you are joking .. I refuse to download RM .. it’ss have to wait to see the videos until I am on my home machine .. if internet ever turns back on there .. but seriously … REAL MEDIA ???

about skylines and porches, porches are slow compared to skylines, a stock line can out accelerate out 1/4 mile one

.a tuned skyline may beat a 911 off the line .. but you can supe up 911′s too ! and they will not fall off the first corner you take them around !

i was just looking through some pic’s and foudn this site, thought I’d clear some things up.

a stock skyline isnt much better than a stock honda civic honestly. Look it up anywhere they run a decent 14.5 in the 1/4 while the 911 can run a 12.5 stock. But supped up the skyline will out perform any vehicle out there. Thats why it was kicked out of the grand national races, for winning 10 consecutive years. The reason being behind the AWD of wide wheel base of the car. Also the amazing power limits that the engine can acheive. But supped up skyline vs 911 i give the race the the R34 by 2 cars in 1/4. Just thought I would share some info guys.
