I have been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to post my experience.
I am 22 years old, not of Asian descent (mostly German) and have been suffering from the dreaded glow. I don't
always remember getting it and its sometimes worse than others.
After finding this site i went out and bought generic Pepecid AC (20mg famotidine tablets). I have found on several different occasions that taking 5 20mg tablets 2 hrs before drinking has greatly reduced redness. Maybe a little rosy but not anything near what would happen if i didn't take it. Obviously, because of getting the glow i am not a big drinker so this method seems to work well if i wanna go out drinking 1 -2 times a week.
I have tried the pepecid on a few separate occasions and it has worked. BUT, this past week/weekend i took the pills thurs-sunday and it worked but i did notice it seemed to be less effective by sunday. Then i took a day off (Monday) and took the same amount (5 20mg pills) on Tuesday and waited the 2 hrs and my face red seemed to get pretty red after like 2 beers but then cooled off pretty quickly.
Basically, the Pepecid seemed to work and i was SO SO SO happy about being able to go out in drink and not get red butttt i will say it would seem my body has built up a little bit of a tolerance to it after taking it multiple days in a row. I would never drink that many days in a row normally but i sorta wanted to see if the Pepecid method was full proof.
I am going to not take any Pepecid or drink for at least a week or more then try the method again and see the level of effectiveness. See if my "tolerance" goes down and if it works like it did the first time i tried it.
Anyone else have to up the number of tablets they take over time? Any experience using this method when drinking multiple days in a row?
